FYI, Donna Rice is now a high-powered K Street lobbyist.
Sleeping your way to the top DOES work.
Handy, but unfortunate. Mess things up, screw things up, even 'eff' things up would have been better. "Not take the state down the path of failed Democrat policies" would have worked as well. Instead he decided to make up a euphemism and it came back and bit him.
Throwing a monkey wrench into the works.
Unsurprised.
“Yesterday a firestorm erupted when Florida Republican”
Said that the sky is Blue
Said that Water is Wet
Exhaled, releasing Greenhouse Gases into the atmosphere
Kissed his (female) wife, thereby perpetuating Gender Stereotypes
Neither did you!
Enlighten us, please.
It could easily be that he blended “monkey around” and “muck things up.” There have been plenty of times that I’ve been thinking two things at once and said some combination of both.
As to DeSantis’ comment, he just got through praising his opponent for running a good campaign in the primary and referred to him as articulate. No chance in the world he would then use that pejorative against him. It just doesn’t make sense. Deep down I think the lefties know this, but will gladly use anything they can to attack and besmirch a good man.
My reaction to them is: There wasn’t any racism when the words were spoken, so the racism must’ve been added by the listener(s) who chose to add it in.
DeSantis didn't think he was talking about Gillem, he was talking generally about the Democrat party's move left to embrace socialism and how it would undo all the things that Republicans have built up in Florida over the years.
Here's a hypothetical: Suppose a candidate talks to a reporter and says something like: "It's time to restore civility and respectful demeanor in our politics, and abandon this rush to bitch and moan about every little thing." Now suppose that he's running against a woman, and the MSM puts out a story that our candidate called his opponent a "bitch."
That's what happened here. No amount of policing one's words can help when we have a media that is willing to twist any context to fit their agenda.

A candidate for re-election to the Senate, from Virginia, George Allen, had a “macaca moment”, in which he referred to a an opposition campaign tracker as a “macaca”.
A macaca is a small monkey of the India subcontinent, and since the campaign tracker was an Indian-American of rather small stature, this was branded as a racial slur.
It diverted the campaign away from the real issues that families care about. And the truth of the matter is, George Allen is very much NOT a racist, but once identified as such, he could not come back from that mark on his record, which by all odds had been very good up to then.
I’ve never heard a reference to hanging over that and couldn’t find one, would you have a link to a definition?
This is becoming funnier than a barrel full of monkeys. Just typical democrat monkey shines.........
Yep, my Dad said all those and more many years ago and there was no racial intent.
I forgot monkey see monkey do........
I don’t necessarily disagree with you with anything you say. All the more reason why Republicans need to watch what they say.
bkmk
Are they using the “m” word instead of the “n” word?
How insensitive.
Yes, though to be fair, he didn’t say “moneying around”. He said, “as long as we don’t monkey it up”.
I have never heard that phrasing and it was stupid of him to use it in this context.
Islam is a religion of uuugh, uuugh, eeek!
