Emory University is investigating a white law school professor’s use of a derogatory word used to disparage African-Americans in a classroom discussion about a racial discrimination case.
More than 200 students, the university’s president and faculty including the professor at the center of the controversy, gathered Wednesday afternoon in front of the law school for a “unity rally” to begin discussions about how Emory can be more inclusive and tolerant.
Another faculty member is teaching professor Paul Zwier’s class as the university reviews what happened in his class on Aug. 23.
Zwier was discussing a 1967 case about an African-American man who was told “a Negro could not be served” at an event. Zwier asked a student while discussing more facts about the case if the man was called the n-word, according to the university. The professor said he initially did not recall using the n-word but said in a letter to faculty that he used the word “rushing at the end of class and should have picked my words more carefully.”

Only blacks can use that word due to their socially superior skin color. Those of lesser races, such as crackers, must acknowledge their inferiority by shutting the f up. Otherwise they are racist by default.
Exactly. The day they ban it from the airwaves, particularly in rap, and fine sports figures when they use it, is the day my ears will perk up. Until then, you can’t have it both ways.
Foe heaven’s sake,the poor guy just USED the word in an academic discussion,he didn’t use it as a pejorative.

Investigating the use of a word. Wow! Are we a lot farther down the road to wrong, than I ever thought we would get in my lifetime. Where is Lenny Bruce when you need him. That word was common on TV in the 70’s. I hear it used every day in the black community. And its on youtube everywhere there is a black comedian. So its not an offensive word unless a white person says it. And this all started as a movement by Bill Cosby. We are going nuts.
By the way, I use that word from time to time in speech. It makes people flinch. I don’t use it to describe anyone. I use it to explain the actual definition. Its in the dictionary. And its meaning was different before the PC crowd took control. It generally meant low life black person. The white person equivalent in the south was White Trash. It still means low life in the black community and is used by mothers berating their children for not behaving in public.

He should just explain that the rushed lesson plan monkeyed around with his usual choice of words. That will clear everything up!

Leftists want “trigger warnings” and to disallow criminal law clashes from discussing rape. Someone might get triggered.
Academia should have free speech as a value above all else. Let ideas circulate. Debate. Speak freely and honestly. Sadly, colleges have devolved into Orwellian thought crime zones spitting out He next generation of snowflakes.
Watch some of the footage from college campuses when the college kids try to debate, say, Ben Shapiro. They have lost the ability to think critically or maintain a coherent argument. Instead, they use words like “racism” thinking they’ve actually made a point.
He should have said, “I don’t believe I used the word ‘nigger’. I said ‘negro’, but your racist filter heard ‘nigger’”.

I am so over this total waste of time and energy. Most kids have thicker skin. This whining has made so many people not cre at all.
