Rep. Al Green: Trump Doesn't Need To Commit A Crime To Be Impeached, 218 Members Of House Decide
RCP Video ^ | 8-24-2018 | Tim Hains

(excerpt)

REP. AL GREEN: "... Impeachment is something that the Framers of the Constitution provided for a time such as this and a president such as Trump. The president does not have to commit a crime to be impeached. In fact, the president is not likely to be indicted, which means he’s not likely to be found guilty of a crime while he’s sitting, which means that if this comes before the House, it won’t come before the House as a president who has been found guilty, but rather as a president who is alleged to have committed certain offenses that are onerous to the Constitution and that harm society. And what this president is doing is harming society.

More specifically, what Mr. Cohen stated in court—he had a lawyer. He is a lawyer. He says that he and the president of the United States conspired. He didn’t use that exact word, but that’s what it means when you say the president directed you, and you followed through. So they conspired to commit an offense. The president may never be found guilty of it, but he can be impeached for it.

It’s my opinion that the Judiciary Committee is not doing its job. This whole impeachment investigation is being outsourced. The Framers of the Constitution intended for the Judiciary Committee to do this—gather information, make decisions, move forward. If the Judiciary Committee doesn’t move forward, then I think it’s incumbent upon the 435 members, each of whom have the opportunity to bring articles of impeachment, to consider doing so. I will surely consider doing so. ..."

Technically he is correct. On the other hand, you don’t need to have committed a crime to be tarred, feathered and run out on a rail either, Green.

Will one of those A$$hat democrats show me what would be included as “High Crimes & Misdemeanors” in the Articles of Impeachment?

Go ahead. List them. I’ll wait. Bill Clinton was Impeached for Perjury. He lied, under oath and admitted it. THAT is a crime. He didn’t get impeached for oral sex in the oval office and infidelity. He obstructed justice and lied under oath to cover up what he was doing with Monica Lewinsky. AND btw, that’s all that was proven or charged. Nevermind all the other shady women and businesses the Clintons had been involved in.

Hi.

“The president does not have to commit a crime to be impeached. “

These people don’t read the U.S. Constitution. How can they pretend to govern?

Wonder who wrote this for Al. Not that he doesn’t agree with every word of it. Too stupid to write, himself, though. On the other hand, if this ridiculous pack of lies is his interpretation of the Constitution, he might have had a hand in writing it.

He’s right. Impeachment is what the House and Senate say it is. It is a political decision, not a jurisprudential decision.

Do you have the power to impeach, D’s? If so, what will be the cost?

What “offense”?

Settling harassment claims?

That’s business.

THIS is why we must not allow the Democrats to gain the House. If they held the House, they would beat the drumbeat of impeachment daily, and hold endless hearings into every nook and cranny of Trump’s life.

“Settling a lawsuit out of court when you aren’t the president constitutes High Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

Absolutely not...on the other hand the two scoops of ice cream while sitting as POTUS well...

The whole point of Green, Warren, and the media punditry et. al constantly bring up 'impeachment' is make sure president Trump is clipped NOW.

They don't want to wait till after the result of mid-term election.

Okay, Article II. “High crimes and misdemeanors.”

Well, you can’t make up new crimes, nor issue a bill of Attainder.

So, how does the House pull it off?

No matter, it’s DOA in the Senate.

If you add Al Green’s IQ to Maxine Water’s IQ the result would still be less than 70.

It would probably be less than Al Green's.

So he is basically admitting that his impeachment movement is all about political subversion rather than “high crimes and misdemeanors.” What's the word I want to use? Starts with an “s”; means the same as “treason” but without the foreign enemy. “Sedition!” Yeah, that's it! And sedition IS a high crime.

I’ve heard the chief justice acts as the judge...can he throw it out without a vote if there are not “high crime or misdemeanors” in the house charges?
