Portland, Oregon, has gradually become the laughingstock of the country. The far left began moving there in droves a few years ago, taking over the city and transforming it to their liking. Taxes and regulations increased. Many of the changes involved implementing more aggressive environmental laws, some that seemed based on junk science. Money was directed into public transit instead of relieving motor vehicle traffic congestion, leading to the fifth-worst traffic in the nation. The TV comedy “Portlandia” emerged, making fun of the city’s nuttiest aspects.
The far left in Portland became obsessed with protesting white supremacy through violence. They claim that Portland is full of white supremacists who must be stopped – but that only makes the left look bad, since Portland is now predominantly comprised of the left. The history of racism that once plagued the state has mostly dissipated, as generations have died out and laws have been rescinded. Notably, all the lefties moving there aren’t making the city more diverse. It is one of the whitest big cities in the U.S., at almost 78 percent. Only 2.2 percent of the population is black.

until its last two seasons when all the good writers quit or were fired and stars Cary Brownstein and Fred Armisen took over writing duties, this was THE funniest show on TV. There are many scenes and lines that are just howlers. This show indeed mercilessly mocks the insanity of the left,but in a completely non-political way. I highly recommend it except for the last two seasons, which are simply stupid rather than being funny ...

and you are totally wrong ... the merciless mocking of the left is totally deliberate, and in fact is what the whole show is about: mercilessly mocking the left ...
It will be worse for the nation when the economy of Portland copies Detroit and the lefties escape to more rational places and infect their new homes.

I visited Portland in the 80s and 70s and it even then was a haven for old San Franhippies. You wouldn’t know it then by driving around on the bigger streets but the cancer was malignant and growing.
My take on Portlandia is that it is an accurate parody and it does make fun and is funny to me. Maybe it is funny to me because I have lived up there.

The left is proving there are no limits to stupidity. It’s not just absence of intelligence, which would have a limit at zero. There is a negative intelligence, which in theory can be infinite. The left is testing that theory daily.
I was assuming that it was incidental, as almost all actors are leftists. Why would they mock themselves? Maybe that’s why the show is no longer being produced.

By all means watch it, it’s a hoot. Subtle digs at hipster culture, radical feminism and delusional thinking in general. The show did numerous segments filmed on location at a radical feminist book store who finally sussed that they were being mocked and kicked the crew and actors out of the store, which soon after went bankrupt and closed its doors.
I’d never watched the show. Just looked it up and watched the first episode. Far out and groovy, man.

Portlandia is actually funny. It is the antidote to the left wing right bashing SNL poison.
I was surprised at the depth of the fun pokes at the 33rd degree liberals portrayed. I think like masons, 33 degrees is the highest.
My wife was put off and I may never watch it again.
That may take a while. I've seen a restaurant sign there offering a $500 hiring bonus.

the "bins" is the place where Goodwill dumps all the stuff they can't sell...into bins...people rush there and go thru the bins and can great deals on already great deals...its a hoot....
of course because everything is just dumped into these bins, many things get broken...lol..still a hoot though...
