The 2018 elections: Will it be a Blue Wave or a Red Ripple?
NJ.com ^ | August 12,2018 | Mulshine

Actually, one guy did. That's Bergen County pollster Raghavan Mayur.

I called Mayur to get his view on how the Congressional elections will turn out this year. It's tough to predict, he said, because this isn't one race. It's 435 individual House races and 35 individual Senate races.

Traditionally, the party holding the White House loses an average of 30 House and four Senate seats in a midterm.

That makes this an uphill battle for the Republicans, but "This is going to be a good fight," Mayur said.

The Democrats still haven't come to terms with the way in which such positions help Trump score with blue-collar voters, he said.

"One thing about Trump is that he cuts across party lines," he said. "It's a new phenomenon the Democrats are facing. Historically they could rely on the union vote but this is a kind of a new dynamic."

Mayur said the biggest factor is likely to be whether Trump commits himself to a busy schedule of those rallies to which he can attract 30,000 or so voters at a clip. He's already scheduled a few.

It may be too early to predict how this will turn out, but there's one thing that I will predict: This promises to be a real nail-biter, at least on the House side. The Senate is likely to stay Republican, but if the Democrats get that traditional 30-seat swing they will control the House.

However, if they pick up 24 seats or fewer, the GOP retains control.

Who will win? Maybe I'll go back and ask the lady who runs the farm stand.

Her guess is as good as anybody's.

The enemy will make some gains in the House, but the GOP should be able to hold the Senate.

IF the American people can be focused on what the anti-American democrat party has become all about, we will be fine. That’s if.

I am of the opinion that it comes down to who can turn out their base.

But Trump’s base and the Republican base are not the same.

Trump has to get Obama-Trump switchers to vote for ordinary (very ordinary) Republicans, many of whom have been stabbing him in the back.

This is not going to be easy.

Yes! Republicans were behind last night big time. Can’t figure out why Republicans aren’t showing up.

Not a blue wave.

Not a red wave.

It’s gonna be a...

Trump wave!

Trump will win at least 10 more seats in the house, and should pick up some 10 or more senate seats.

Why a Trump wave???

Traditionally, on a non-presidential election year, the party in control loses to the party out of power. This is NOT a traditional year. This is a TRUMP YEAR, and will be so for the next 3 election cycles.

Without Trump, democrats would have won enough seats to take over the house, while the senate would still remain in republican control.

The rats will steal at least 3-5 congressional seats in Pennsylvania ONLY because the corrupt rat court illegally redrew the district lines. We also have a corrupt rat Governor who will do anything to retain power. The Philly precincts will be out in full fraud force this cycle. They now know the number of votes they have to manufacture to reelect commie Wolf.

At the end of the night it would be nice to see more sobbing of inconsolable grief from the Left much as we saw 2 years ago.

Really, really nice.

THE BEST STRATEGY TO ASSURE REPUBLICAN WINS

We urge Obama AND Michele to get out there and campaign.

Appeal to their massive egos. Tell them the country NEEDS them now more than ever.

When these two Chicago nerds show up, voters will not be able to contain their disgust.

Remember 2016 Hillary was ahead when the goon-faced Halfrican decided to flex some muscle......he came onstage and give her a big hug on broadcast TV.

A Republican win was assured.

ROTFLOL.

Traditionally, the party holding the White House loses an average of 30 House and four Senate seats in a midterm...heard an interesting theory from - dare I say it? - Carl Rove today - he says there is often a "surge" of people elected to congress when a president wins the White House who are really poor candidates but get pulled along into office on the coattails of the president - they get easily defeated during the next election - this didn't happen with Trump, so most of the Republicans in office now got there through their own strengths - that'll make it less likely that they'll be defeated during the upcoming midterms and should help the 'pubs.....

The DNC Perp Walk ... man that would be great.

Before the election I predicted that the media would put Trump under a microscope to much the same extent that they’d let Clinton get away with anything. I did that as part of explaining how Trump could never be even remotely as corrupt as Clinton even if he wanted to be.

He’d never engaged in pay for play in high office ... she had. He didn’t have an infrastructure of corrupt cronies infesting D.C. ... she had. Add in the above, that he’d be watched like a hawk, and it seemed a no brainer.

But beyond that he has in office expressly not circled the wagons around his subordinates as Nixon tried to do and the Clintonistas most certainly do in ways that would make Nixon go slacker jawed (Nixon never had the press as willing accomplices).

Yeah, Trump shoots off his mouth on Twitter a lot but these never-Trumpers can’t see that. They can’t see past their offended flapdoodlery.

“The rats will steal”

I suspect that is going on WAY more than we realize.

Took some time off work last election and worked the Trump table at my polling place for early voting and election day. Every day several people would come to our table and tell us “they told me I voted already.”

When I ask at Repub functions what are we doing to fight voter fraud, I get deer in the headlights look.

This is becoming a MAJOR problem. We have voter fraud on steroids and it’s gonna get way worse.

Provisional ballots??? What in the heck do they do with these??? I’ve never seen an article on how they are handled!!!

In a fair election I think that the Repubs could break precedent in these common trends. But the full-court press is on with the Dem fraud machine. They don’t even try to hide it anymore.
