Trump heightens attacks on Sessions: He's 'scared stiff and missing in action'
The Hill ^ | 08/11/18 | Tal Axelrod

President Trump ratcheted up his attacks on Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Saturday, tweeting that Sessions was "scared stiff" and "Missing in Action" in defending him amid special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Trump slammed Christopher Steele, the former British intelligence officer at the center of the Trump dossier scandal, and the Department of Justice (DOJ) and once again slammed Mueller's investigation as a "witch hunt."

"The big story that the Fake News Media refuses to report is lowlife Christopher Steele’s many meetings with Deputy A.G. Bruce Ohr and his beautiful wife, Nelly. It was Fusion GPS that hired Steele to write the phony & discredited Dossier, paid for by Crooked Hillary & the DNC," Trump tweeted.

"Do you believe Nelly worked for Fusion and her husband STILL WORKS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF 'JUSTICE.' I have never seen anything so Rigged in my life. Our A.G. is scared stiff and Missing in Action. It is all starting to be revealed - not pretty. IG Report soon? Witch Hunt!" he wrote.

Trump’s attack on Saturday was likely prompted by murmurings that the Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee is readying subpoenas for people connected to the controversial Steele dossier.

Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) is reportedly preparing subpoenas for DOJ official Bruce Ohr, his wife, Nellie Ohr, and Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson, sources told The Hill this week.

Bruce Ohr is facing scrutiny from Republicans for his contacts with Simpson and Steele during the presidential campaign, the news of which prompted Trump allies to demand a special counsel investigation into the DOJ and FBI in December.

Simpson hired Steele to help produce the dossier that made a series of salacious allegations about Trump's connections with Russia.

Nellie Ohr worked for Fusion GPS during the presidential campaign — a fact that Republicans have promoted as a possible link between the DOJ and the opposition research firm.

Trump has gone after Sessions for the Russia probe before, saying earlier this month that the attorney general should stop the investigation "right now."

"Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further," Trump tweeted on Aug. 1.

Trump is also known to harbor hostility toward Sessions for recusing himself in the investigation.

“The Russian Witch Hunt Hoax continues, all because Jeff Sessions didn’t tell me he was going to recuse himself...I would have quickly picked someone else. So much time and money wasted, so many lives ruined...and Sessions knew better than most that there was No Collusion!” the president tweeted in June.

“Trump would fire Sessions if he was not doing what he wanted..”

Trump has been assured by the Republicans that he is apt to be impeached if he fires Sessions.

If Eric Holder had testified to Congress that he was recusing himself from certain matters and it was later found out that he was coordinating the treatment of such matters, he would rightly be accused of lying to Congress and would deserve the five year sentence for such lying. Now here we have Jeff Sessions recusing himself from certain matters...

There’s no 3-D chess game going on. Sessions is as Trump says: scared to death.

Trump would never let his friends & family be harmed by Mueller as they have. Total fantasy.

Sessions is a coward.

If Trump and Sessions are playing a Q game to distract attention from their real activities, they're pretty good at it.

Personally that's exactly what I think is going on at least until right after the election and the confirmation of Kavanaugh to the USSC and when there are likely to be better numbers for the Republicans in both chambers of Congress to thwart much push back from the Dems and liberal Never Trumpers when Trump starts making some of his long awaited agenda items push.

I also believe that Devin Nunes is right to hold off on impeaching Rosenstein until after Kavanaugh gets confirmed. Trump has proven to be very adepth at the rope-a-dope scheme.

"f Trump’s desire is to have Sessions resign, it’s not happening. Sessions is quite likely the worst cabinet director we’ve in quite some time (in terms of damage to the country)."

Sessions has no honor. He is clearly in the pocket of someone with some serious dirt on him and he fears that more than the loss of his former reputation as a affable senator from Alabama turned attorney general. He has become the obvious quisling in the Trump administration.

Regardless of how this shakes out, Sessions will be despised in history as a traitor to his President.

You should work for MSNBC, fit right in.

Sessions will never quit. He is the deep states firewall. President Trump will have to fire him, but the question is when?

If he does it now it can backfire and play right into the Clinton/obama/ Mueller/media’s etc hands.

If he waits till after this witch hunt then it could be another year of which the Dems would have done enough fraud to take back the house, and Senate.

Jim Jordan etc has to get out there and publicly denounce Sessions every day, and ask where the hell is he, and why is he not doing his job.

I’m not sure what FR needs more at this point - an IQ test or a lie detector test?

They're playing games...Trump would fire Sessions if he was not doing what he wanted..

It is possible. I have worked for executives who played such games - and been the recipient of public criticism by those same executives for doing cover activities which were exactly what we privately agreed to do. It was all part of a plan, worked out in advance.

It is a very nasty power play if that is what is going on.

In any case, we are already at the point where a purge of the DOJ, the FBI, and the CIA are long overdue.

I doubt I'll ever understand why the hell Trump tapped Sessions to be his AG.

If this is part of some master strategy, it's eluding all sane analysis and speculation.

Anton Chekhov said that if a gun is shown mounted in the wall in act one, it has to be fired by act three. We are now going into act two, and the gun that is Sessions is still on the wall collecting dust.

This is one that has me stumped. I mean you just don’t slam your underlings — you replace them if you don’t like their work.

This is some version of “Art the Deal” that eludes me.

Him calling her “beautiful” has to be a message, like, “she’s the one that’s going to be arrested”

No. I think it’s his way of being sarcastic and calling her an ugly hag in a way the media can’t bitch about. He made a similar comment about Lisa Page yesterday (or was it this morning?).

Hmm. I’ve just had a brilliant idea. President Trump, if you’re reading this, maybe YOU could fire your lousy, incompetent, chicken-shit Attorney General. You know. Just pick up the phone and say “you’re fired.”

I feel very uncomfortable about this. It’s like being a guest of a married couple who suddenly get into a family squabble. If he doesn’t like what Sessions is doing or not doing, talk to him privately. Don’t involve the rest of us, please.

4. Pence becomes President.

5. The Dems make Hillary the new Speaker of the House.

6. Dems impeach Pence.

7. 2016 Election reversed. Hillary is now President.

I see you are from “Texas North (aka Tennessee) and I note that you are familiar with the term “pendejo.” So, if you really think Sessions is doing his job, I’d suggest you go on a “pendejo hunt” and go look in a mirror! Might also see a pinche idiota if you look closely. Just a thought!

There is a serious problem with “waiting,” which is that statutes of limitations are expiring every day for a range of federal crimes. Many have 5 and 10-year deadlines for filing charges. Which means that unless Sessions really HAS filed some sealed/secret indictments, that many serious crimes from before August 2008 and August 2013, respectively, are already off-limits. And the longer this goes on, the more crimes become unprosecutable.

I do not like President Trump insulting AG Sessions. Reality check....who the heck would the US Senate ever confirm to replace him? We’d end up with some swamp-thing hack being acting AG.

WHAT?!
Just what do you think we have NOW????
