Last week I was on vacation when news broke about LeBron Jamess school opening in Akron, Ohio. So I wasnt on social media or watching much television. I did see that CNN sent Don Lemon for a sit-down interview with LeBron and ESPN sent Rachel Nichols for one and even the Wall Street Journal had a piece this morning about how amazing LeBron James is for paying for a school. Essentially every major media organization, and many of their employees, fell all over themselves to praise LeBron James as Mahatma Gandhi in sneakers.
So call me crazy, but I assumed LeBron James was funding the entire school in Akron all by himself.
This isnt uncommon, plenty of rich people have founded entire schools and paid for all of their expenses.
So would it surprise you to find out that the city of Akrons taxpayers are actually paying for 75-80% of the school and its yearly expenses? Well get to that in a moment.

In fact, LeBrons foundation, remember, its not LeBron himself, its his foundation, which solicits donations from other individuals and companies to do his charitable work, is only on the hook for $500,000 a year for the next several years. (Eventually it could climb to $2 million as the school grows, but that will still be a small part of the overall school cost at that point.)
According to Forbes Magazine last year LeBron made $85.5 million.
Even if we give LeBron credit for all of that yearly money coming out of his own pocket that means LeBrons committing .0058 of his yearly income on his school.
Thats the equivalent of someone making $50,000 a year donating $292 a year to charity.

"LeBron James is on track to be a billionaire and regularly attacks the president of the United States as part of his woke political platform. Hes probably the most powerful athlete in America today.
Yet he just received an entire week of fawning media coverage for his charitable donations on top of the years worth of prior coverage for his college scholarships and no one has actually bothered to do the research on his foundation before now to see what hes actually paying."
Just like Oprah “giving away” CARS that the Automobile Compant DONATED TO HER!!
If .6% of his annual income is the entirety of his charitable giving, he’s a pretty “frugal” fellow.
But if this represents one of a number of charitable works, then one would need to examine his entire giving profile to come to any conclusion as to how much of a tightwad he is.
If Trump had made donations in his name like LeBron and Oprah, the media would be all over him.
I guess the media finds it important to celebrate mega wealthy blacks.
I give a much greater percentage of my income away every year than either LeBron or Oprah. And they need it far less than I do. Maybe the media should praise me?
I'd be willing to be the average Evangelical Christian in the US donates a greater % of their income to their church and/or charity than most any other group.
Fake philanthropist.
Progressives do that well redistributing other peoples earnings to look charitable and feel good about themselves. But, they know their truth. Thats why so many are so hateful, from self-loathing.
What if herpetology was hispetology, and would turtles really care?
To be fair, if you watched the behind the scenes show that discussed the car episodes it was clear that anything given away was provided by the companies and Oprah didnt pay.
On Facebook people have been sharing how LeBron is the one making his school free. I saw a comment that said, its a shame an individual has to do something the government should be doing.
I hope she sees this.
I say again, LeBron is a racist thug ...
On the Qanon/Pedogate Twitter threads, there is a disturbing picture of James with a little girl grabbing his crotch. I kid you not. This is why James is a staunch Hillary supporter.
btt
I know I donate a significantly higher percentage of my income than either LeBron or Oprah. And most of mine goes to my church.
Mark for sharing with the misinformed.
I am not jealous of LeBron James. He is a highly gifted and talented athlete. He works harder than most people can imagine. The world is full of talented basketball players. He is the best.
I am not at all concerned about how much money he gives anyone.
I don’t care what he thinks about the President or me or anything.
You see, the world is a better place when we place our energy on helping ourselves and our family, and our neighbors. LeBron doesn’t live on my street.
Those of you who are jealous (and that is mostly what it is, when boiled down) are burning energy needlessly. The reason is that he doesn’t care about you. And he should not have to.
What I expect from LeBron is for him to take the Lakers to finals next year and promptly lose in 5 games to the Celtics.
There is such thing as special privilege, given only to members of a certain government-certified victim group. Free everything, at our expense. And they still hate us!
LeBron didn’t go to college...
Even more bogus than the U of Akron naming scholarships for James that he hasn’t funded—the U of Akron is a public university. What the h&*l is that about???
And yes, it is wrong to have anyone be able to buy a public elementary school “brand” naming—and take credit, as LeBron has, for government-funded school breakfasts and lunches, etc.
It isn’t jealousy that’s driving freepers to despise Lebron, but the fact that he uses his fame and fortune to trash our own world view and supports people and policies we despise.
If it was jealousy, they would despise Trump even more, since he’s much wealthier than Lebron.
If Lebron supported Trump and his policies we’d all be praising and cheering him.
Politics (self interest) trumps everything!
My point is, who cares?
You give him more power by hating him.
WE know that things are going right. Thats all that matters. I really doubt that anyone single person reading here is going to know anyone who’s opinion is swayed by LeBron James.
I understand your points. I am trying to get people to stop caring. It is a waste of time and energy.
