Well darn. As a receiver of mineral rights payments on gas wells, I always wish the enviros well on stopping/slowing drilling. They keep the price a bit higher with their shenanigans. But they don’t hurt a thing in the end.
Gas and oil left in the ground is just money in the bank. Barring an energy breakthrough that vastly reduces demand of gas and oil, it will all get produced eventually, and most likely at a higher profit than today’s.

The Monterey Shale which extends under most of this area is highly fractured by mother nature, in that large chunks are thrust 90 degrees by the Pacific Plate, deep underneath.
So conventional fracking may not be economical, as there are not vast areas of uniform horizontal layering.

Interesting. That’s enough for about 3.5 million people. Who’s getting the water?
To: TaMoDee
Oops, that’s enough about 375,000 people then.

I’ve got acreage in the Barnett that no one will drill due to a fault running through it. Drag-ola.

Ending a five-year moratorium, the Trump administration Wednesday took a first step toward opening 1.6 million acres of California public land to fracking and conventional oil drilling, triggering alarm bells among environmentalistsbat-laden belfries.

Great photo but it should be juxtaposed against a photo of 8 to 12 individual wells in a quarter section being drilled. Footprint optics.

The gas can be used to de salinate the water desperately needed.
