This incident hit the TV news in Central America a very few minutes after it happened. I switched over to TeleSur in Caracas, and within fifteen minutes the government of Venezuela was saying it was an assassination attempt, and that three or four more bombs had exploded in the city. How was that known so quickly?
The consensus here is that it was probably a “false flag” thing to blame the resistance who are still smarting after the recent rigged election. Maduro has probably already arrested a lot of people who will be quickly executed to show what a strong leader he is, and to frighten any opposition. Also, some reports from Venezuela say the soldiers, mostly Bolivian national guard there for the ceremony, were actually running TO AID Maduro, not fleeing the scene. The people love him so much they were rushing to protect him. Yeah, right!
I didn’t see any report about a propane explosion from Caracas news, but gas explosions are common in Latin America. The tanks used are same size as in the US for propane grills but most have no manual shut-off valve. They are kept closed only by pressure within the tank, and if there is a slow leak there’s no way to close it. They are known as “chimbas”, the same name for home-made firearms and hand-held mortars. Maybe for the same reason.
Also, Maduro is saying the incident was the work of Colombia, with whom he would love to start a war to get the peoples’ minds off him (Maduro). He also blames the “resistance” in Florida whom, he says,the US is protecting and financing. So is it Colombia, the rebels in Florida, or the local opposition? Maduro seems to have it all figured out in the first half hour, but he’s left me confused.

Because he is living high off the hog, protected from the total loss of value of the currency, while the people have no jobs or food?
By making inflation happen, he has reduced the value of savings to ZERO! He has rendered everyone, except the ruling elite, poor.
That is sufficient reason to throw him out of office and to reduce him to the same status as the ordinary folk.
