With any gun, you keep firing until the bad guy drops. A guy who goes down after one .45 is more likely to survive, than the guy who had a whole mag of 9mm put in him.

I got a better idea:

Instead of gun control, how about self control?

I have a better idea. Abolish gun control laws, then get serious about punishing crime. Execute murderers without endless appeals. Long jail sentences in prisons where those incarcerated emerge weak, broken, and unable to harm anyone else, assuming they survive at all. Make our criminal justice system something to be avoided at all costs.

And since .223 is a “small caliber,” why wasn’t it shown on the chart with he .22 LR and the .25 auto? I’t should be right between them!

Or how about Chris Rock’s “bullet control”?

This almost sounds like The Onion.

In fairness, they describe centerfire rifle cartridges as "large caliber" regardless of their diameter because of the energies involved, just as they classify .38 special as "medium" and .357 magnum as "large", despite them shooting identical bullets.

They talk about "replacing" large caliber weapons with small ones via legislation.

How would that work, exactly?

London has already done that study. They found that knives can be lethal. Who woulda thunk it?

A better way to lower crime of all types:

End illegal entry into the USA.

Someone gave this gun ignorant idiot a little bit of knowledge about firearms impact energy and now they wrote an article acting as if they are the smartest person in the world about guns.

Let me clarify this for them. I teach hunter safety to 10-11 year olds. Part of what I teach is what calibers are legal for hunting and which are not legal. I explain to them that terminal energy, the energy that the animal absorbs, is what makes the difference, and for a clean quick kill a certain amount of energy is necessary. I also explain to them that it is necessary to place their shots, and that energy, properly so the animals are stopped so that no game is lost. 10 year olds get it.

Glad this author just caught up with the 11 year old hunters in our nation.

BUT,

NO, you are not taking anything away from us. 2A says I have a right to my guns and you will not outlaw those calibers that will allow me to adequately defend myself. If and when I have to pull a trigger it is imperative that I stop that person instantly so they can no longer hurt anyone. The larger calibers do that much more efficiently.

When I am carrying a smaller caliber handgun I know that if need to pull the trigger I will have to empty the magazine to compensate for the lighter energy of the reduced caliber.

One way or another I'm going to stop that person in their tracks. Bad guys who have been shot but not stopped can and will kill you as quickly as those who are unharmed.

This author is a "non-gun" person with a stupid idea trying to act like knowledge that is brand new to them holds all the answers and they do not have a clue what they are talking about.

So Much for this gun ignorant novice's idea.

They left out the .45 ACP and .223 Remington -- two of the most common firearm rounds in the US today.

Also, their graphic shows the 380 ACP round has a wider diameter than the 9mm Luger. Both bullets are .355 in. in diameter.

This is what happens when researchers are paid money to publish, the more nonsense the more money.
