Good points.

How much of global warming is due to man, and how much is due to natural cycles we can’t control and don’t understand?

For example, we know there have been numerous ice ages in Earth’s history. Chicago was buried under a mile of ice during the last ice age. Wasn’t global warming beneficial, to melt all that ice?

They make it sound that if we shut down all economic and industrial activity, then magically global warming goes away, and our lives will be utopian.

There is no “global warming”. Attempting to pin something on a fraction of a degree “average global temperature” based on thermometers of wildly varying calibration over a number of centuries is quackery and not science.

Honestly, it's probably a mixture of both.

Personally, I think conservatives botched the message with their initial denials that there was no climate change. This allowed liberals to get the upper hand and control the message.

The questions that should always be asked about climate change are: Is it catastrophic? Is it necessarily bad? Should we worry about it? Can we fix it and what will this cost? Do we want to pay it?
