n Tuesday night, Brian Kempthe Georgia secretary of state and self-proclaimed politically incorrect conservative who owns a truck, talks about standing for the national anthem and happily supports President Trumpbeat Lieutenant Gov. Casey Cagle in the states gubernatorial runoff, officially becoming the GOP nominee. Kemp will face off against Democrat Stacey Abrams, the Sanders-backed former Minority Leader of the Georgia House who is the first black woman in American history to win a major party gubernatorial nomination.
Kemp and Abrams are interesting characterstheyd be worth writing about even if they were running in an un-competitive state. But theyre running in Georgia (a typically red state that Democrats hope to turn purple in 2020 or 2024) in what looks like a good year for the Democrats.
This race has the potential to be very interesting. So its worth taking stock of some of the basicsexactly what Georgia looks like politically and demographically and what the early outlook in this race is.

No.
I bet Bill Kristol is secretly hoping for this just to stick it to the President. He and George Will should never be referred to as conservatives again.
Pinko Blue?
Can we end this erroneous color naming for political territories?
Watch for vote fraud in Hotlanta.
Not with $227K in personal debt. Gonna get burned during the ad campaigns.
If they import all the black voters from Florida, Alabama and South Carolina they have a chance.
Just what Georgia needs...a woman who cant manage her own financial affairs elected as Governor to manage the states financial affairs. What could possibly go wrong.
Doubtful, an obvious affirmative action candidate (the party picked her over a better qualified and known candidate because of her skin-color) will not inspire much sustainable enthusiasm. Plus, I don’t see the Democrats open borders, anti-capitalism, socialist, and anti-American platform being a big seller in Georgia.
No. Georgia is bigger than Atlanta.
Not a chance.
The population of Georgia is ~10.5 million and over half live in the Atlanta Metro Area.
Stacy Abrams has a great chance of winning if she can find the donors.
She will carry Albany, Macon, and Greater Atlanta. He will carry the rest.
Only if she holds her breath until she’s elected ...
The Never Trump Weekly Standard does not understand Georgia
Not without lots of illegal alien votes.
It was blue during Reagans first run. Then they realized that associating the left with red was a bad choice idea
LMAO.
Abrams has a snowball’s chance in hell.
All her funding is coming from out of state. That may mean money but it will not turn into votes. Remember all the money that poured into Ossoff in the 6th. Those same folks will be funding Abrams. She will get a lot of votes in Atlanta and a couple other cities but Kemp has some support in those cities as well. Plus he has the rest of the state.
LOL! The neocons are truly desperate to regain their lost influence.
