The late Harlan Ellison said anyone still obsessively fascinated by comics after they pass age 9 is an idiot.

A funny thing to say, given that one of his last creative acts was playing himself in multiple episodes of "Scooby Doo: Mystery Inc.".

I went to a few cons back in the 70s and 80s as a much younger adult. I enjoyed some of it but also got a bit of a creepy vibe at these nerdvanas and stopped going eventually. Since the ascent of President Trump the remnants of the old entertainment world have been swept away for me.

Stay away from the book The Last Closet if you don’t want to really know what was happening.

I wonder what those who hasve a financial interest in the box office total think about this? Will they view this as increasing sales or tanking them?

I often wonder this myself. Either they like it for the 'press ' attention it brings to the movie or they cringe and hope it doesn't have a negative impact on the numbers.

Never can tell it happens so often. Makes me think sometimes it is used as a marketing device to attract attention. Would be curious to see numbers on some of these shows after the usual stupid, attention getting, disrespectful idiocy.

One of the funniest things I ever heard was that sports on TV is like Dungeons and Dragons for people with no imagination.

LOL!!!! I just started playing Dungeons & Dragons.

With a good DM running a game it can become a hella tough boot camp obstacle course for your mind.

"The late Harlan Ellison said anyone still obsessively fascinated by comics after they pass age 9 is an idiot."

Ellison was probably my least favorite SF author (Heinlein rules!). I read comics from first grade until I left home for college. Of course, I also read a whole lot of other stuff (Ivanhoe in third grade). Graduated with a PhD in chem, so the comix couldn't have affected me too badly.

Unfortunately, after I left for college, my mom gave away my collection to some of my cousins. It included the first Fantastic Four, first Iron Man, first Spiderman, and probably others. I could cry just thinking about what those would be worth today.

WHY impeach Trump?

Because they think high crimes and misdemeanors is them not liking him.

Actually, the impeachment process is a political one. Not exactly like a legal one.

I suppose with enough votes, they could impeach him in the house and if the senate had enough votes, they could convict him there, of just about anything they felt like charging him with.

It's about politics, not the law. Politics is about getting enough votes to win, not about the truth.

So I suppose, if the opposition voted and convicted him of hogging too much of the ice cream, they could.

My guess? It will not happen to Trump.

Harlan Ellison was a typical Gemini. Saying the outrageous to get a reaction. Playing two different sides himself.
He derided science fiction people and SF itself and appeared on the Sci Fi Ch. on TV and at SF cons and in the magazines. Often denouncing a big crowd and having them cheer wildly for him after his speech!
Yes, he did graphic novel adaptations and made fun of comics people at the same time. I interviewed him for two national magazines and he was a warm, kind man in private but a hellraiser as a speaker.

Moms are like that. I’ve heard so many who lost their valuable childhood stuff thanks to them.

I have totally rejected Sf after decades of my writing about it in books and magazines. A few conservative and libertarians in the field and lots of liberal-socialist creeps. Like movies and popular music, you can’t limit it to political credos or you’ll listening only to Charlton Heston Reads The Bible (LP) as a FReeper showed a few years ago and made me laugh. Saw it once on a wall at a funky used music store in town. Still true.

I gave away my son’s entire collection of GI Joe figurines and comics. I did call him though and ask him what he wanted me to do with them first. I could cry.
