A record 22 percent of Americans said this month that they believe “immigration/illegal aliens” is the most important problem facing the United States, according to Gallup polling numbers released on Wednesday.

“The 22 percent of Americans in July who say immigration is the top problem is up from 14 percent in June and is the highest percentage naming that issue in Gallup's history of asking the ‘most important problem’ question,” Gallup Editor in Chief Frank Newport said in an analysis of the survey.

“The previous high had been 19%,” Newport said. […]

“Immigration reached 19 percent of mentions as the top problem facing the nation in April 2006, as Congress was wrestling with the effort to pass a comprehensive immigration bill and as immigration protests in cities across the country dominated news coverage,” Newport said. …

The real percentage is far higher than that, I’m sure.

And for many that don’t think it is the absolute TOP problem, illegal invasion ranks pretty high.

The open borders crowd tells us we need to treat them extra special or they won’t “come out of the shadows” to help police solve crimes. OTOH, they sure don’t show any fear about coming “out of the shadows” to protest or even illegally vote, do they?

Went from 19% to 22% ?

Explains why there is no pressure to do anything on comprehensive immigration reform (amnesty) or the Wall.

More people will come to realize the truth of this in the future. Americans are waking up.

Well, well, well. What a surprise...not.

If I were POTUS I'd beat this horse like a red-headed stepchild.

19% is an already-elevated level. Historically immigration doesn’t pull more than 5-8% as a concern.

Once you hit 20% you’re in “the economy” range. And this is just the people who list immigration as the #1 concern - there must be at least another 10-15% more who view it as #2.

Immigration will dominate the election - the economy will be muted by the media because it’s good for Trump.

And “Abolish ICE” is about the worst possible position a political party could have in this environment. The Democrats could not be in more trouble.

They won't open their mouths either way.

I say let them stay in the shadows. They knew the consequences when they jumped the border. Our country must not legitimize law-breaking just because there is a lot of it. ENFORCE OUR LAWS

Rush just mentioned this poll to show Russia was a nothing. I wish he’d get the message and stop talking about Russia.

When van Jones called Trump's election a ‘whitelash’, and stated that these were people who wanted to ‘take America backward’, what he was angrily referring to in reality was overdue pushback against the aggressive efforts to rapidly change American demographics that he and a significant percentage of his resentment, racism, and hatred-driven fellow travelers either overtly or covertly support.

By the end of the Obama administration many of them believed that the point of no return towards this goal had been reached, and they became more open about it. They are now very angry, as they see the possibility that their efforts to radically alter America may not reach fruition. They are angry that those being targeted for relegation to irrelevance have actually fought back for their families and themselves. Race and ethnicity were never the motivating factors for the vast majority of Trump voters. Conversely, sizable percentages of Democrats and those on the left are either personally motivated by these factors, or see them as viable targets with which to manipulate the electorate.

Between this and those who feel it is #2 along with the millions that fear answering truthfully, this is excellent news. The Trump Train is the only vetted ride available and everyone knows why the engine is stalled

I suspect the emphasis on the issue in the media has led to the increase - the problem is that the reaction isn’t the one the media and the Dems were trying to produce.

Gallup: Record Percentage Say Immigration Top Problem for USA

My experience is that, that is spot on, not that I give polls any credibility, but then...
Theres's this

From "The Great Revolt" thread...
"Digging into their results, one finds that, surprisingly, "draining the swamp" was very low on their priority list, even though most mentioned it in their interviews. Rather jobs, the economy, manufacturing, and trade in some form or another constituted the #1 priority for the large number of these Trumpers. The Wall/immigration usually was #3 or #4."

Which I disagree with 100%"

My point, as I am sure you surmised, is that they have no hesitancy about opening their mouth wide, loud and often when the topic is (a)collecting free stuff from the government, (b)proclaiming their superiority over their host country natives, or (c)participating in political demonstrations.

However, when the topic is contributing to the safety and civility of our communities, it is NO CAN DO because they are "in the shadows" and fearful.
