This is a very interesting video. It's title doesn't accurately capture all the Jordan wisdom imparted in it on this subject.
He speaks a lot of the need for non-creative people as well as creative types (the non-creative people being needed as managers and business leaders and the creative types needed as entrepreneurs and, of course, artists).
I think it was in another video in which he explains Trump as a creative type and not a manager, though Trump has done quite well as a manager.
Though Trump has done well as a manager, his dominant creative side is quite obvious in his leadership style.
Creative people are people who see what everyone else sees but think what no one else thinks.

I find Peterson and the others in the Intellectual Dark Web group, to be fascinating.
(yes, I know some are liberals) All of them are fed up with identity politics, political correctness, etc.
Most of the liberals I know are robotic...and have been brainwashed. They are not at all creative. In fact, quite the opposite.
That said, Peterson is speaking generally here...and the points he makes are really interesting.

I thought this video was particularly interesting and timely because of the uproar over Trump's summit with Putin.
Liberals, and some conservatives, just can't understand what Trump is doing. Frankly, neither do I. But knowing Trump to be Trumpian (i.e. creative), I expect him to pull a rabbit out of his hat.
Much appreciation to you Canucks for giving us Jordan Peterson.
I learn something new from him every day.

Quite a tour de force.

He is trying, but doesn’t really understand creativity very well at all. One item was basically true: To be creative it has to be unique and useful. I just call it useful creativity. Because there are other types. His concepts of conservatives totally misses the mark. He confuses behavior with politics. I don’t think openness has a big roll. If you want to know if you have some real creative potential; ask yourself how well you visualize (without a picture); especially complex concepts.
Lots of people can be peewee league creative. Jumping up to the high leverage idea level drops the odds to about 1% or less. Moving up to the Revolutionary is extremely rarified air. Sometimes people may hit upon a revolutionary idea but not recognize it as such. Unfortunately, the term revolutionary gets way over used for very pedestrian ideas or evolutionary improvements. My definition for the military is: “Change the nature of warfare.”
One good part is that I think it can be taught to the top 5-10%. One of the hardest parts is coming up with a good evaluation tool. Why do we need the tool? When presented with a group of good ideas, the choice and ordering almost always is random. And we never have enough money to fund everything.

Really good stuff. I think he’s right about this. In business history, in the mid-1800s American business turned itself over to managers because the entrepreneurs—with some important exceptions-—couldn’t run their companies.
I must say though as one who is very creative, it is often both. I remember once I interpreted a school writing assignment very different than my peers.
When the professor was talking about our completed work he pointed out one of the students had a very unique way of interpreting the assignment and based on that foundation did what was asked of the assignment but in a whole new fascinating way. (It was me.) It was an eye opener for me as usually I got in trouble for interpreting directions very differently than my peers. For instance I am a horrible check the box type test taker. But excellent at essay writing tests and actually scored the highest in the nation on such a test once.
But in this case it made me not only stand out in a positive way. But created something completely compelling and out of the box. (My life story. lol.) I have been a great success though. So I'm lucky. Sometimes it is painful seeing the world so very differently though.
Yes. I am wading through it. I am used to reading books quickly, but that does not work with 12 Rules. I am also used to reading books just once, and that probably will not work either.
In high technology, being ahead of the curve is just as painful as being behind the curve.
