N.H. Supreme Court upholds constitutionality of voter residency bill

A fiercely contested bill to make residency a condition of voting in New Hampshire was determined by the state Supreme Court to be constitutional Thursday, in a major ruling that clears its approval by Gov. Chris Sununu.

In a 3-2 ruling, the court found that the bill, House Bill 1264, is not a burden on the right to vote, but rather a means to better organize state laws “in order to place voters and residents on equal footing as New Hampshire citizens.”

The court’s decision, which came without warning, now sets up a high-stakes choice for Sununu. On Thursday afternoon, hours after the court weighed in, the bill passed from Senate President Chuck Morse’s desk over to the governor’s office. That set in motion a constitutionally mandated five-day countdown; Sununu must decide by Tuesday whether to veto, sign or let pass without signature a law he has taken varying positions on in the last seven months.

In a terse statement Thursday, Sununu declined to show his cards.

Okay, how about you’re a full time student and have a part time job .. then in the summer you find full time work until school starts up again. Oh and you live in a dorm? How about living in a homeless camp?

Come tax day, who what state do you file in?

Even that is not good enough. Illegals and foreign students can get auto licenses and get automatically registered to vote. It is beyond sickening. Congress needs to get rid of motor voter laws. Bill Clinton knew what he was doing when he pushed this crap law down our throats in 1994.

I know of libs with homes in Florida and the NE. They do ‘early voting’ in Florida (a BAD idea) then plan a short trip to NY etc to ‘see the kids’ and vote there on Election Day.

A reminder that when we see these kinds of things litigated tooth and nail, we’re already well down the road to anarchy. These are not one-off matters. If the rule of law were accepted and respected and followed, these kinds of things would never come up.

Fiercely contested?!

It should’ve been a legal no-brainer.

I know why NYS does’t prosecute double dippers.

But WTH is Scott’s problem?

You look up the legal definition of “residency” in each state for voting and for paying taxes. They’re easy to find.

Don’t pretend that returning to rule of law a complicated thing.

It’s not just the students. The Libs drive up from Mass and pretend to be residents too.

I’ve always wanted ID’s and purple fingers. Also we should apply the death penalty for voter fraud. Too many people act as though voter fraud is equivalent to a misdemeanor, personally I equate it to treason against the will of the people.

I’m beyond disgusted. Is there any doubt how Hitlery won the popular vote?

Having lived in MA when I worked up there I can safely say that leaving that socialist, freak state was the best move I have ever done.

Yep I can attest to that since I am in FL.
The snowbirds use their north east address to vote, and the use their address down here to vote in my state.
Then the college kids do the same, add the illegals, the vote more than once, and dead then there is no way the left should ever win this state.
Now can someone wake Sessions up please and tell him to get a grip on voter fraud, sanctuary cities, and investigate the investigation, Comey, Mueller, Rice, Clinton, Jarrett etc.

“””Republican supporters of the bill have called the move a common-sense change that brings New Hampshire in line with 49 other states that require residency to vote.”””

Why is this even an issue? 49 of Obama’s 57 states have a residency requirement to vote.

Agreed. These parents are taking the ‘children’ as deductions on their taxes. Voter fraud should have a harsh minimum sentence. Stealing, through voter fraud, our ‘true’ representative government is removing our ability to choose how we wish to live. Why not cross check the records of the voters against the IRS rolls?

North east FL. St Augustine. Love it here. More freedom, gun rights great, hardly no traffic compared to there, and hardly any liberals.

It’s about time! Your vote, to a responsible citizen, is their most valuable asset. When the Dems bus fraudulent voters across state lines they are devaluating the true honest citizens vote. Death penalty should apply to anyone involved in organizing voter devaluation.

Unfortunately the law does not take effect until next year. The Dems have one more unfettered opportunity to steal elections in 2018.
