Not cynical, just realistic. I have lived under every president since FDR dies and Harry bombed Japan and I have never seen anything that resembles justice when it coms to our political class, unless they are an unknown minor leager.

The way I understand the facts is, the Russians, or someone, phished Podesta and got his emails.
The DNC server was downloaded via a “thumb-drive”. Meaning it was an inside job. Seth Rich, anyone?
The Russians, or someone, and other entities, “hacked” Hillary’s private email server.

Became a full conservative somewhere during the Carter years( I was born in the Ike years). I never saw any corrupt high up politician go to prison for their crimes. Not a one. Heck even in WW-II our country didn't do much to the Japanese bad boys nor the Germans. It took Israel to hunt a few down and the USSR got a pass.
So, all that written, I sense maybe a few of these folks will be tossed under the bus but I do hope maybe for once in my life the swamp will be drained and back-filled but again just my experiencing of history and politicians in my time doesn't give me much hope for change of any of these nefarious players make it to the big house.
Where I was raised probably accounted for my parents being lifelong democrats but they were hard working patriots that were of the great depression, never grasping the truth, although my mother finally conceded that Reagan was OK. Mother died shortly after Reagan entered office, dad passed a few years earlier.
Dad's family migrated from Virginia after his grandfather fought the Civil War as a Yankee Captain, came by covered wagon into Illinois finally making it down through Missouri into Oklahoma settling in the a small town with no sewage or running water. My Great Grandfather did not live long enough for me to know him but had friends that did know him. Oh well.....
Sounds like your old family and mine probably would have agreed on a lot. My gramps immigrated from Germany( hidden Jewish on one side, royla lineage on the other) and spoke German and yiddish but irregular as German and Yiddish was frown upon through WW-1 and II. Other side was Ukrainian pogroms so they ran to Germany and eventually America somewhere in the later nineteen hundreds. Other side best I know was Swedish and they migrated somewhere around the 1850’s but don’t know much.. One died in the First Bush, other in Clinton years. Gramps liked the Birch society, was a doctor and a Colonel in the army. I got most my views in politics from grandpa.

So for over a year BEFORE Candidate Trump made the above referenmcened speach, the Russians were already deep into the DNC.
I meant 19th century not 1900's. *sigh* I get tooo lazy to proof my own posts. I believe I skipped a generation and was much more like my grandparents than parents. Maybe I was rebellious. But I found gramps and grams were much more practical and their outlook had more clarity, more history( as evidenced by...) and showed by example they walked the walk from that past experience.
Nowadays, I am very happy I'm not like the lefty side of the family who disowned my views and eventually me over the years. They think I'm the goose stepping Nazi when they're in their late 50's and 60's still smoking dope and playing the hippie Bolsheviks replete with tie-dyed shirts, hippie music, save the earth and COEXIST Bernie and Hilda voters....yep I'm the hater. Oh well they didn't like grams and gramps much either.

Completely lost a nephew the day Trump took office hasn't spoke to me since that day. Sad thing is he like most liberals think we are full of hate, while they riot in the streets and call for the Presidents head.
