LAS VEGAS -- A Nevada judge is halting the use of a drug in the execution of twice-convicted killer Scott Raymond Dozier hours before he was scheduled to die by a first-of-its-kind lethal injection mixture. Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez ordered the delay Wednesday morning in response to a challenge by New Jersey-based drugmaker Alvogen, which says it doesn't want its product, midazolam, used in "botched" executions.
Alvogen's objections were aired at a hearing that unfolded less than 11 hours before Dozier was to be put to death with a three-drug injection never before tried in the U.S.
The pharmaceutical company urged a judge to block the use of midazolam, saying the state of Nevada obtained the product through "subterfuge" for unapproved purposes. Dozier has insisted he wants to be executed and doesn't care if it's painful. The ruling effectively put the execution on hold.

Watched a docu a few years ago that said that those under the death penalty in the USSR would sit a wait till someone would come into his cell and shoot him in the head.
Sometimes they’d wait for weeks. Every time someone walked down the hall...
Murders should be given a choice of execution by the method they used on their victims, or a self-inflicted alternative of the murderer’s choice.
“Nitrogen Asphyxiation”
Please research midazolam.
When G Maledon was asked if any of the ghosts came back to haunt him after he hanged the men he answered, “No, Cause I reckon I hanged them too.”
He was Judge Parkers hangman. And he never failed.
Send the bill for his continued room and board and expenses to the drug company. If they want to pay for his upkeep, they can keep him alive as long as they want.
The Japanese do it even better.
No warning and they use a Noose.
This is why states should have the *option* of a firing squad on their books, in case other means are blocked in the courts.
Legally, the firing squad is incredibly hard to block. It is easy to set up, its components are ubiquitous and cheap, any LEO can belong to a firing squad.
And it is also protected as a means of execution by international law.
To prevent visible blood, the condemned is given an absorbent vest. Other than that, death is almost assured.
Face mask, garden hose, exhaust pipe.
Just call them post term abortions and the left will be all for them.
Same goes for euthanizing large animals, too.
Veterinarians put down horses whenever it’s called for, with never a glitch. I think these concoctions they’ve used were intended to have glitches and failures; because they are dreamed up by bleeding heart libs who are anti-capital punishment. Let a veterinarian do the job and there’ll be no more screw-ups.
No, not if you count in the legal costs. C02 invokes a drowning / choking response in humans. This will lead to lawsuits about cruel and unusual punishment. N2 does not provoke such a response.
Why? Nitrogen Asphyxiation is a readily available, and inexpensive welding gas. Unless the atmosphere of EARTH goes away, there is and will not be a shortage of Nitrogen gas. People cant stop it’s presence through patents or bankrupting a company or refuse it’s sale.

Fentanyl works just fine.
“Why?”
Self-education?
Color me ignorant, but when was that last time anyone has heard of a problem with an animal being put down by a vet? It must happen thousands of times every day!
What’s wrong with using the same drug on humans?
Plain ol’ fentanyl works fine. Only 2 mgs needed.
“Whats wrong with using the same drug on humans?”
They use fentanyl on humans. Much more deadly than the barbituates used on horses.
ok - so if Fentanyl works for horses, what prohibits its use on humans?
