It deliberately seeks the results you mention. It really is a war on reality, in most cases driven by neurotic compulsions. I have been fighting it in all its manifestations for over six decades, and have never met more than one or two foes, who could even defend it by a logical argument, for as much as 45 minutes..

Look! Neither one of us ever sat next to an equal in any classroom. Some were better at one thing, some at another, etc.,etc. Can anyone really see anything but destruction--the bull in a china shop variety--when Government seeks to level society?
