I think he's right. I think Midwesterners would go all out for a slate of outright socialists. In fact, I think the democrats ought to run socialists in every district in the Midwest. Heck, why stop there? Find as many 'queer, Latinix, democrat socialists' as possible and clean the Republicans clocks.
Go for it dems!

Sounds like an escapee from urban LA-crisco. That's why most of the midwest voted for Trump.

There is method in democrat madness to openly advocate socialism.
There are tens of millions of immigrants now in the United States and it traditionally takes generations for children of immigrants to achieve comparative economic status with native Americans.
This huge influx of immigrants will look around at the cornucopia of plenty surrounding them and decide that they would not mind the government giving it to them and would comprise a huge voting bloc.

The problem with this is so many people are sick of the Neoliberal status quo of exporting jobs and being stuck working at Walmart part time. That doesn’t necessarily make people socialist despite what the Chamber of Commerce says.
It’s a false dichotomy.

He’s confusing socialism, the state owning the means of production, with agrarian communalism, the voluntary sharing of resources and labor. Many Midwesterners are for the latter, but you’d better keep your hands off their property, and your nose out of their business.
