All true as well, sadly. However Trump is unlikely to choose his pick based on what McConnell wants. Trump will always be his own man, operating on his own instincts, and has been preparing to be POTUS for 25 years.

And finally, as much as I do not like the GOPe, and which is why I have been a Trump supporter for 12 years, they are not the real enemy. Because Gorsuch received less democrat senator’s votes than fingers on my left hand. Without the RINO senator’s votes, Gorsuch and Merrit Garland would be having a beer together.

Sotomayor had 17 years worth of “stuff”...what was looked at ? nothing-> other than she was presented ad nauseum as a “wise latina”.

What troubles me is Maggie Haberman is writing this as if she was sitting in on these discussions.

If true what the heck kind of huge leak hole is going on here ?

Hardiman is unabashedly pro-2A... sometimes even the RINO Turtle gets one right.

“Hardiman’s wife and in-laws are committed Rats sorry deal killer.”

I know that his in-laws are registered Rats, but that means nothing by itself. My maternal grandparents were the same, and 3 of their 4 kids are fairly to rabidly conservative.

As for the in-laws themselves, many times people do the opposite of what they want, just because.

The man is incredibly pro-2A, which screams, “Originalist!” to anyone who understands that issue at all.

Not everyone is Arnold Schwartzenegger, with no political spine.

Trump should nominate a bus driver or sanitation worker from NYC that is a high school dropout but retired at 50 with a huge pension and is full of all kinds of common sense.

F#^K the Supreme Court.

Maduro made short work of the idiots on the SC in Venezuela, time to put these degenerates in their proper place in the US going forward.

Other than Thomas, is there anybody else left that should get advance notice of the MOAB?

Yes McConnell can be a surprisingly effective weasel for the good guys once in a while, almost like he means it.

Trump should nominate ME. I have no judicial history, outside of a DUI case in the mid 1990s, and I plead no contest due to the inability to assemble an adequate defense.

I’m not a constitutional scholar, but I can learn pretty fast.

Kethledge is being praised by Washington post and NY times. Makes me immediately suspicious.

I know it’s easy to beat up on McConnell, but in this case I suspect he’s heard from certain Pub senators who have problems with the others, and he’s recommending the two who would have the easiest time passing. He did good killing the Merrick nomination and getting Gorsuch through, so I’m inclined to trust him on this issue.

Also those two have the best pro-2A records, though I think any of Trumps picks will be fine.

The only praise I’ve seen from those papers was an opinion piece by Hugh Hewitt, Got any links?

I have a bad feeling about Kethledge

He's giving me visions of Souter plus Ann hates him over immigration!

Kethledge wrote a judgy man-splaining sort of a dissent on a rape case. If most women get wind of it I predict there will be pandemonium during confirmation that Trump does not want to deal with because it will weaken his position while giving the Never-Trumpers a victory. Between the weird open borders decision for a guy who had overstayed his visa for years and could quite easily have remedied his problem by simply getting his paperwork in order, and the weird “if she said yes once she has no right to say no later” reasoning, Mitch is very much mistaken if he believes that will be an easy sell.
