Germany has been brokering an exchange deal between Israel and Hamas, and in recent weeks has proposed a concrete arrangement, the London-based Arabic language Al-Hayat newspaper said Thursday.
In the deal, Israel would release Hamas terrorists it is holding in prison, in exchange for the remains of IDF soldiers Hadar Goldin, Hyd, and Oron Shaul, Hyd, along with Israelis Avraham Mengistu and Hisham a-Sayad.
According to the report, Germany has been trying to broker a deal for the past three years almost since the end of Operation Protective Edge, when both Goldin and Shaul went missing in a battle along the Gaza border.
The report said that two German emissaries recently visited Gaza to present the deal to Hamas leaders, who agreed to have Germany broker the arrangement.
The report said that while the deal is not yet complete, both Hamas and Israel are prepared to allow the Germans to propose an arrangement.
Germany also played an active role in the negotiations for the release of kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.

Note to Israel: Hope you’ve got a really long spoon...
I know Israel believes strongly in getting their soldiers’ remains back, but giving up live terrorists who will then return to kill again never seems wise to me.
How much is Germany paying Hamas ?
Why would Israel ever trust Germany to do anything? Germany is on the Palestinian side.
As long as they are return unarmed, they won’t be able to cause further significant trouble.
But, if not sufficient, they could be returned unlegged as well.
There are lots of suicidal leftists in Israel’s government working with Germany; have been for ages. Israel’s got its own deep state.
Germany paid massive sums in reparation, and may start paying a 2nd round, Germany provides diplomatic assistance to Israeli citizens where ever Israel doesn’t have an embassy, Germany subsidizes millions in wealons systems for Israel...Germany sucks, but I don’t think it’s fair to say they’re on Palestine’s side.

Thanks Olog-hai. IOW, it took Germany three years to get the Hamanimals to agree to let them be the go-betweens.
What’s this deal #&@%?
Wipe out islam!
How the Jewish faith regards human remains may be a factor here. That said, handing over terrorist who will cause more human remains in exchange seems like a bad idea.
A Bad Deal for Israel.
Don’t trust Hamas or Germany.
That is stupid.
I MIGHT exchange the remains of Hamas terrorists for the remains of Israeli soldiers, but I’d never give them live bodies.
And, if I knew where those remains were, I’d go take them, using overwhelming force without any regard to Arab lives.
By all means make sure it is a fair exchange and insure the terrorists are all “remains” too.
I would say that the more Muslims who enter Germany and other countries in Western Europe the more pro-Palestinian Europe becomes.
Does Europe ever sanction Palestinians they way they do Israel? German Jews, French Jews and British Jews are already seeing the writing on the wall.
No doubt that you are right, it’s the optics that trouble me. Israel’s left is as self-loathing as our left.
Occasionally some European countries actually recognize Hamas (whose name means “violence” in Hebrew) as the terrorists they are, but never Fatah (whose name means “conquest” in Arabic).
Remember, it was someone out of Europe who was head of the UN when they declared Zionism to be “racism” back in the 70s. (Imagine that: the notion of Jews having their ancestral homeland back being considered “racism”.)
After WWII there were millions of displaced person and all have found a place settled down and prospered with the one exception being the Palestinians.
I find myself not having the least bit of sympathy for a people who would rather hate than live. Sad.
Never mind the “Palestinians” not calling themselves by that misnomer until almost two decades after the legitimate State of Israel came to be.
The Arabs who were living there before 1948 were enticed to leave their homes by the neighboring Arab powers, believing that the Jews would be driven out. But that didn’t happen. The State of Israel does not deny them their old homes back or Israeli citizenship, but that would not be the terms that they want their homes back on.
