That and working on the Foster death whitewash have turned me from Kavanaugh. Kethledge looks good.
I am less likely to trust a New York Times source than a statement from POTUS himself.
We have too many people on SCOTUS from Yale and Harvard and too many from the northeast.
These are both negatives from Kavanaugh. SCOTUS does not have much religious diversity either-- 3 are Jewish (in name only); 5 are Roman Catholic (2 in name only). I believe Goresuch is the only Protestant, but I am not sure about that. I am not sure about Kavanaugh either and it doesn't really make a big difference to conservatives either since most of us agree with the official Catholic views on issues of life. But I am guessing Kavanaugh is probably Irish in origin and, therefore, probably Roman Catholic, so would not earn any diversity points here either.
Thomas Hardiman
Second to Gorsuch, makes him number 1 now.
This guy even admits in his own article that Hardiman was runner up last time. With Gorsuch off the list, Hardiman is STILL only a runner up? Makes no sense.
Hardiman was Trump’s 2nd choice before, why wouldn’t he be the first choice now? What’s changed? NOTHING.
Kavanaugh is a potential deep state mole and would morph into Kennedy’s “nuanced” positions.
Barrett or Thapar is the way to go.
Yeah, Barrett sounds really good on paper. She’s Christian like us, but I still have to dig deeper on what she thinks of 2A, obamacare etc.
And she really looks darn good too. Not that I didnt notice ...
Kethledge
She has a very thin resume as a judge. Hardly any opinions.
Kethledge is the right man!
Kethledge is the right man!
Yup. I dont like surprises like another Roberts. Kavanaugh was the judge on the Vince Foster-Hitlery Arkancide case and he’s untrustworthy..
I completely agree. I’ve read a lot on the possible picks and I really like Kethledge the best.
Not Harvard or Yale, was number 2 in his class at Michigan. Worked summers and paid his own way through law school. He writes his own opinions. He’s an originalist. He clerked for Kennedy. He’s a hunter and fisherman. He’s in Michigan, not the swamp! An outsider.
The Catholic vote split 48 Clinton to 45 Trump in the 2016 election.
Older Catholics went for Trump, younger for Clinton.
Catholic vote mirrored the general population vote almost exactly.
What is Kethledge’s religion?
I’ve searched and searched and cant find out.
Yes! He’s more like Scalia than Gorsuch is.
But what is his religion? I’ve looked and looked online and can’t find out.
I like this little blurb from Wikipedia
“When Kethledge is in northern Michigan, he works in an office he created in a family barn near Lake Huron. The office has no internet, a wood stove for heat, and a pine desk for a work space. He has spoken publicly about hunting with his son in the Michigan wilderness.”
I didn’t find anything about Kethledge’s religion either. Here’s one of his opinions in a case that involved religion, though (next to last paragraph).

Scroll down to this title on the page.
“Warrantless use of third-party cell phone data upheld (2016)”
https://ballotpedia.org/Raymond_Kethledge
My last comment was not about religion, but I thought you might want to see it anyway.
I’ll give him that one and in fact, he sides with law Enforcement in Carpenter. Not an unusual ruling. It was in keeping with precedent at the time.
The SCOTUS ruling.... “was very narrow and did not otherwise change the third-party doctrine related to other business records that might incidentally reveal location information, nor overruled prior decisions concerning conventional surveillance techniques and tools such as security cameras.
The Court did not expand its ruling on other matters related to cellphones not presented in Carpenter, including real-time cell site location information (CSLI) or “tower dumps” (a download of information about all the devices that connected to a particular cell site during a particular interval).
Tokyo Rove likes Kavanaugh.
That makes Kavanaugh a big fat “NO” in my book.
