The FBI on Friday sent a classified letter to House GOP officials disclosing whether the agency used top-secret confidential informants in the Trump campaign prior to opening an investigation into Russian election meddling, Fox News has learned.
Congressional Republicans had formally demanded an explanation from the FBI after numerous former Trump officials said they suspected the agency had attempted to infiltriate the campaign.
In a letter to House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes, R-Calif., obtained by Fox News, the FBI says its confidential explanation outlines whether the "FBI utilized confidential human sources prior to the issuance of the Electronic Communication initiating that investigation."

If I awoke one bright sunny morning, and the FBI called to tell me the Sun had risen that day - I would think them a liar.
If the FBI was spying on the Trump campaign before the start of the Russia investigation, then I don’t see how anyone wouldn’t see that as sedition plain and simple. How long until we find out?
Did I miss something when reading the article? I don't see where it says Fox News got a copy of the actual letter, only that they "learned" of receipt of the letter.

If they did not use top-secret confidential informants prior to opening an investigation there would be no need to classify the letter stating that fact.
Exactly. If they did nothing wrong it could be let out to everyone.

Thanks...I missed that, but if they are in possession of the whole letter, I wonder why they didn’t publish it in its entirety.
Can’t think of a single thing the FBI has done in recent memory that was in the best interest of the country. I realize that the public isn’t privy to everything the agency does, by a long shot. But with the failure to prevent mass murders commited by people they had investigated and been warned about. Covering up their failed covert operations. Giving cover to Democrats and spying on Republicans. Just plainly targeting conservatives and protecting leftists. What has the FBI become, but an arm of the dnc? Not including, of course, all those honorable agents we keep hearing about.
