>> Well, either they will, or it will be reverse psychology <<

Pres. Trump’s action looks self-defeating to me. I think the best thing would be to let the House pass either bill, then stand by and watch the Dhims kill it in the Senate. That course would give the ‘Pubs a strong issue to run on in the fall.

But now, what will they need to say?

Maybe something along the lines of,

“We couldn’t pass an immigration bill because Pres. Trump told us to drop it.”

Sorta like the dog ate my homework?

Somehow, I can’t see a winning strategy here.

That is not working. Trump already tried urging congress to do something.

It’s good strategy to wait. It’s not senate dems who would kill anything decent, it’s McConnell and his RINO’s. Too much risk that RINO’s and dems could override a veto. much better to wait til there’s more conservatives voted in and Ryan/McConnell are gone . (plus it’s a winning issue for his 2020 reelection) MAGA!

They could have done that with the Goodlatte bill. That is not what the House leadership is trying - they are trying to push through amnesty without effective controls in the heat of the moment.

I think that the President assesses that he is likely to get a better deal from the next Congress than from this one.

The bill they are proposing takes the DACA issue totally away (granting a path to citizenship, that millions will be able to use), leaving no leverage to reform chain migration (the single biggest problem), or to extract a big up front funding for the wall.

It is possible that seeing the internal polling, or knowing of the scandals that will break on the Democrats, that the President anticipates keeping the house and improving in the Senate. He has started talking about a Red Wave.

Well, we know Ryan’s Bill is amnesty . We know anything coming out of the Senate will be amnesty. Not good things for Republicans to run on!

Maybe he’s hoping enough RINOs will get replaced in the midterms.

The most recent cover to TIME magazine newsletter is on view in US' offices and living rooms. Will there be a correction longer than a few sentences most people won't see?

IMHO, this one visual LIE is the reason for the President's re-direction.
