Back in the day, possession of any amount of MJ in Lousiana was a felony. Even a single stem. Not sure what the law is there now, but that’s how it was.

Why should anyone have to pay a lawyer to defend their freedom for possessing pot?

Why?

Why is anyone who smoked or possessed pot in prison?

Louisiana has only in recent years began reforming the weed laws. They use to hammer you.

"Why is anyone who smoked or possessed pot in prison?"

People are in prison for all kinds of crimes: murder, forcible sodomy, theft, fraud,... And it's common knowledge, that pretty near all of them smoked and possessed pot.

A felony isnt “auto” prison time. People keep lying about simple possession resulting in prison time. Its a lie.
