President Trump said Monday he's directed his administration to identify $200 billion worth of Chinese goods that will be subject to additional tariffs, escalating the ongoing trade dispute between the U.S. and China.

The president announced Friday that the U.S. would impose 25 percent tariffs on $50 billion in Chinese goods. Beijing responded with reciprocal tariffs on U.S. products.

Trump declared Monday that "further action must be taken to encourage China to change its unfair practices." As a result, he asked his trade representative, Robert Lighthizer, to identify $200 billion worth of Chinese goods that would be taxed at a rate of 10 percent.

Source concerning the coal seam fires, please?

As for coal, met coal production seems to hold steady — it’s the thermal coal market that’s hosed.

10% tariff on $200 billion in Chinese imports would pay for our border wall - first year.

China would just waste the money building up their military to replace us, and rob from our allies in the region.

I think there is more to this. Lil Kim must be thinking that Trump is serious. This is also impacting the Iranians and any other Trump enemy.

Funny thing though, the only people that do not get this are the Democrats.

Exactly , made in Taiwan is much better than Chinese commie garbage, even their written characters are defective compare to Taiwanese traditional characters. Furthermore, there is a reason why we have ethnic slur for Chinese people and not Taiwanese. Disclaimer: being an American Taiwanese have nothing to do with my hate for the Chinese government, I’m just stating facts.

Thanks!

Appreciate your research on this. Always nice to have fact-based arguments when knuckleheads attempt to use emotional arguments.

The Chinese stock market took a 5% dive today, and over a thousand companies dropped 10% or more.

Looks like the Government is starting another big round of using their foreign reserves to prop up their markets - maybe their currency will be next.

We may well hear them cry uncle before the Summer is out. If they ride it into the ground out of pride and stubbornness, all the better.

Just read an article from James Cramer (CNBC). He said China may fold much earlier than people think.

“He (Cramer) said China may fold much earlier than people think.”

They are plenty smart enough to see the numbers - they just need to see if there really is the political will, and even the capability to actually do it, given the checks and limits on power within our system.

I think that was a big thing with ZTE - just demonstrating that the President could actually take things away and give them back. Americans seemed to have been frozen, and simply unable to take any defensive action for so long.

Anyone whining about these tariffs is a statist loser who wants US citizens on permanent welfare.

This could be a very good thing. It might just kick start some of our own manufacturing base.
