Comey refuses to testify to Congress, McCabe pleads Fifth Amendment: Grassley
The Washington Times ^ | 2:29 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018 | Stephen Dinan

Fired FBI Director James Comey refused to appear before Congress on Monday to talk about his handling of the Clinton email investigation, and his fired deputy, Andrew McCabe, asserted his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination, Sen. Charles E. Grassley said. Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch also declined to show up for a major hearing where the Senate Judiciary Committee was looking into the inspector general’s report detailing major bungles in Mr. Comey’s handling of the Clinton investigation. Mr. Comey’s lawyer said he was out of the country — though Mr. Grassley, committee chairman, said he saw Mr. Comey was in Iowa over the weekend, visiting a key state in presidential campaigning. “He has time for book tours and television interview, but apparently no time to assist this committee,” said Mr. Grassley, an Iowa Republican. He said he had sought to compel the three to show up to testify, but Sen. Dianne Feinstein, California Democrat, blocked him. Under committee rules, the ranking Democrat must agree with the chairman in order to issue a subpoena. Copyright © 2018 The Washington Times, LLC. Click here for reprint permission.

Unless immediately addressed, a precedent is being set. If subpoenaed by Congress, it is now acceptable to tell them to piss up a rope.

"Sen. Dianne Feinstein aiding and abetting the corruption in the FBI and the DOJ."

Sounds just about right for Dame Frankenstein.

If we had a real Justice Department they could subpoena them and let them talk to a grand jury who could actually indict someone instead, but we are miles from that.

So, "Higher Loyalty" stops at Congress. Oh, okay.... When Comey raised his hand and was sworn in, what was HIS concept of 'high loyalty'? Here's his loyalty (oldie but goodie - and BOY did I get grief when I first posted this....):

Don’t forget that she leaked the Fusion GPS guy’s secret testimony to this committee so that the following demonrat witnesses would know which lies to tell. She is all about aiding and abetting demonrat corruption.

I think you are right. I also think it is going to come back to bite him. I completely understand McCabe taking the 5th, because he has plenty to lose if he opens his mouth. He might still be angling for a deal.

Stupid rule, but they could still be subpoenaed by the house committee.

Stupid rule when we're in the majority, but brilliant rule when we are in the minority and the Dims are performing a witch hunt against Republicans.

During a previous less prosperous phase of my work, I was compelled to attend a lot of stupid business meetings, yet these idiots are apparently exempt from having to appear before Congress.

The majority should make a big show of trying to issue subpoenas and having the Dems block it.
