Nearly 220 Texas school districts allow school staff to be armed for defense of themselves and their students.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times reports that the exact number of school districts allowing armed staff sits at 217.

At the beginning of February there were just over 170 Texas districts allowing armed staff, but that number grew as district after district responded to Parkland and other school shootings by changing policies to allow staff to defend their students.

Come on AWR. Just put the current number up. Irritating to see "nearly" when the number is right there. And with over a thousand independent school districts in the state, it seems there are a lot more to bring in to the fold. But, it's a start.

It will be interesting to see if any of these armed schools ever have a shooting incident. I’m betting “no”.

IT actually felt good to walk into the high school I graduated from. to go to the classes I had been so many years through.. holstered (but I was a deputy on an off duty assignment).

The teacher was surprised (was my history teacher)... and the kids enjoyed the moment :D
