A highly publicized extramarital affair didn’t end Mark Sanford’s political career. Nor did the revelation, less than a month before a 2013 special election for Congress, that he had to go to court because his ex-wife had accused him of trespassing. The National Republican Congressional Committee’s decision to cut off funding to him that year was also not a fatal blow. He won his next elections.
Then came Donald Trump.
Sanford has been one of the president’s most vocal Republican critics in Congress, and Republican primary voters punished him for it. Sanford lost Tuesday night to Katie Arrington, a state representative who made public support for Trump — and Sanford’s lack thereof — a central issue of her campaign.
"I've always been a realist, and at this point, based on the numbers I see, I think that I'll end up losing this election," Sanford said at his election night party, a little over an hour before the AP called the race.

btw, it was an absolute disgrace HOW Sanford conducted that affair and the WAY he lied about it ... to me that exposed a lack of underlying character ... not to mention a lack of intelligence in thinking he wouldn’t get caught in such an easily verifiable lie ...

Break with Trump, lose elections. The lesson could not be any simpler for GOP incumbents. Over and over again this happens, yet they never learn. Do they not understand why Trump won in the first place? He’s not them.
Now Sanford can revive his career with a cable show: “Philandering in South America,” starring Mark Sanford.
This loser was just on Fox News, whining about an “allegiance test” for candidates, then denied that he ever “bashed” Trump. Uh, huh.
They then played a clip of Bob Corker calling Trump supporters “cultists” (well, at least he didn’t call us “deplorable” cultists). Go back to the swamp, thing.
Believe it or not, I'm starting to like Lindsey. He seems to be supportive of Trump and that's what Trump needs. I wonder if he's changed his views on amnesty - I've not heard him say lately.
Make no mistake, he is loyal ONLY to his wealthy donor-owners. Sometimes that means he will be on the same side on some issues, but it doesn’t change who he is or who he serves. He is just as vile as his BFF McTraitor.
Well, Maria looks like a friendly sort, but you have to ask:
What in the world is THE ATTRACTION?

He certainly wasn’t too bright....dude was a sitting Governor and thought no one would recognize him at the airport or care to question a long unexplained absence? Then publically calls the other chick his “soulmate” while claiming he wants to work things out with the wife? What a dingleberry.
Still, that’s not as dumb as being a Never-Trumper.
