Accepting there has been a great deal of work on the leak investigation; and accepting the purpose therein; the Wolfe indictment appears strategic in that it captures four of the largest media outlets within the net. Four mainstream media enterprises are now on notice. With more than six months of investigation, and with the timing of the indictment becoming public, it’s likely the FBI leak task-force caught more than just Wolfe.
Wolfe is simply the first to be identified. Suspicion: Wolfe will likely lead to Dan Jones.
On December 15th, with the evidence and admissions therein; and specifically noting the FBI showed Mr. Wolfe photographic evidence (he was also under physical surveillance); James Wolfe opened the door to an investigative path that was almost certainly followed. In essence, anyone in contact with Wolfe would now be inside the investigative review.
This is important because Wolfe wasn’t arrested until six months after he was clearly busted. Within this time-frame other people would be under investigation.
The FBI would be able to use the information gathered from Wolfe, and exploit his compromise, for search and surveillance warrants on other participants within his contact circle. The investigators would not want the downstream participants to know.

You have it backwards. Trump sticking his neck out would be firing people Congress rabidly supports, and then trusting Congress to have his back.
If anything, Trump has less Congressional support than Nixon had.
he is letting his fate be in the hands of the same people who want him o fail. He can take the initiiative or be passive and let it happen to him.
Well no one can accuse Nixon of being passive.
Btw, Nixon had very high approval ratings too.

Not much, really. Nor do you know what Mueller has. One of his two specialties is framing innocent people. I have read that Sessions may be a cooperating witness [against Trump]. Who knows what Mueller’s Gestapo tactics have yielded? With the press and the Permanent Political Class united against him, Trump is NOT in a strong position.
Is it just my imagination, or has Adam Schiff been keeping a very low profile the last few months? If so, something like this growing story could explain the reason...

Trump has the power to end this. He is winning with the public if the economy stays strong and the NK deal goes well, he’s in the driver’s seat.

My theory is that rather than risk Nixon’s fate, Trump will continue to undermine Mueller with a steady drumbeat of biting criticism. He will wait until Ryan is replaced, hoping the next Speaker doesn’t hate his guts and spend way too much time plotting against him. If—and hopefully when—he has more than two or three allies [at this point all of them in the House] Trump will strike. That is likely his best shot.
When will these irritating and false assumtions ever end? Is it possible to point out the obvious without having people put words in my mouth?

Would you please get it through your head that Trump is not going to fire Sessions. If he was, he would have fired him by now. The senate has made it clear, they are not going to confirm anyone if Trump fires Sessions. It is not worth it politically to Trump to fire Sessions - Trump would kill his presidency with it. It would be nonstop coverage 24/7 of Trump obstructed justice, more Russian collusion and then even more Russian collusion. The House would definitely flip and Trump would be impeached which would completely bring an end to Trump’s presidency in effect. Trump could not win reelection as an impeached president and thus ended our experiment. It isn’t worth it, so please get over it.
They don’t get it, but obviously you do. There are a lot of simple people who don’t look beyond the ouster of Sessions. Perhaps, it is not that they don’t, they really can’t. That is why they are simple. They look at everything from their simple perspective and the world is good. They have no ability to see things from others points of view and any consequences to any actions. Trump is good, therefore xyc. The world does not work like that.
