Fox Newss Harris Faulkner is on a mission to bring her military upbringing-inspired rules to live by to the rest of the world including lawmakers locked in never-ending political battles.
What I hope is what Im giving people is a way to negotiate. You dont get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate, the Outnumbered co-host tells ITK of her new book, 9 Rules of Engagement: A Military Brats Guide to Life and Success.
Politicians say, Oh you know, politics is a blood sport. I mean, whats the opposite of that? Harris asks.
We had one political campaign tell us, When they go low, you go high, she adds, referring to the mantra made famous by former first lady Michelle Obama at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Im here to tell you that that high road, you can honk your horn and drive down the center lane. Most states theres not a lot of traffic on it.
The daughter of a career Army officer who served three tours of duty in Vietnam, Faulkner says shes had help steering her professional and personal life in the right direction thanks to being raised as a military brat.
We had rules in our house that were tied more than to just a chore they were tied to greater success at life, says Faulkner, who also hosts Fox Newss Outnumbered Overtime.

I just bought it. I’ll reply to this thread later with a review. (if anyone GAS)
Please do. I always liked Harris Faulkner.
I’m interested.

Von Clausewitz said: “War is the continuation of politics by other means.”
He was holding the wrong end of that stick
I say: “Politics is the continuation of war by other means.”
That show should be known as “Boxed In”.
;^)
Will do.
One of the very best on Fox. Highly articulate, and she has a clear voice. Seems to be neutral on politics. Fox should replace Shep with Harris.
Yes.
Politics is negotiation. There IS NO political negotiation if the other side has the ability, and willingness, to simply impose their demands by force.
I like her. She’s smart and tough.
Hate to be the negative ninny, but how many of these self-help books are there now? There are about a million keys to success, and none of them seem to do much but sell books.
We can agree that selecting and purchasing such a book requires discretion on the part of the purchaser; however, after listening to Faulkner over a period of time, one can observe her disciplined journalistic style and substance and logically conclude that her foundations are solid and her judgments are not based in “feelings” or speculation, as are those of many so-called “journalists.”
Okie dokie, but I still say these books are a dime a dozen. It’s like every woman’s magazine ... every month has the same cover story “How to finally get organized”.
Ugh, just had to turn off Outnumbered as they let Marie Barf go on and on examining nonsense. Fair and balanced doesn’t have to mean giving the pro and con of genocide, plane crashes and massive epidemics.
Trump can make great progress by pushing for real "choice" and "diversity" in the education of our children from K through University levels, where they are not learning the kind of discipline of thought and action described in Faulkner's book.
“”I like her. Shes smart and tough.””
I love her... She’s one of the very few if not the only woman in any position reporting/commenting on issues of the day who doesn’t have a voice that grates on my nerves. AND I think she is one beautiful person. I did not know or realize she was an Army brat.
I didn’t know that either. She’s gorgeous.
I’ll be sure to be on the lookout for it in the library but it will be awhile before it shows up there. Could get at the head of a waiting list NOW...
