Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday called President Trump "brave and mature" for setting up a denuclearization summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, according to Reuters.
Putin went on to tell China Media Group that he is expecting a "positive outcome" from the upcoming June 12 meeting, which is set to take place in Singapore.
“I still hope that this meeting – a very brave and mature decision U.S. President Donald Trump has made, to have direct contacts with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un – will take place, and we all expect a positive outcome,” he said.
The interview comes one day after Russia extended an invitation to Kim to visit Russia.
A Kremlin spokesperson said on Tuesday that the meeting could be a part of an economic forum held in the eastern city of Vladivostok in September.
A summit between Trump and Putin is also reportedly in the works.
