Robert Mueller Reveals The Price Tag For His Special Counsel Investigation
NPR ^ | May 31, 2018ยท5:01 PM ET | Carrie Johnson

The special counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election has cost nearly $17 million dollars so far, according to a new report from the Justice Department.

Robert Mueller's team of prosecutors and FBI special agents has spent by far the most money on covering salaries, followed by rent and information technology services, the statement of expenditures says.

The office has been operating for just over a year — since May 17, 2017, when Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller, the former FBI director. His task is to get to the bottom of Russian manipulation surrounding the election and whether there were any links or coordination with the Trump campaign.

Earlier this month, President Trump tweeted the probe was a "soon to be $20,000,000 Witch Hunt, composed of 13 Angry and Heavily Conflicted Democrats and two people who have worked for Obama for 8 years, STOP!"

Some of the attorneys working for Mueller have made campaign contributions to Democrats or have other such political connections. By law, Mueller is barred from considering political affiliation when hiring for career posts inside the Justice Department.

Special counsel lawyers have secured guilty pleas from Trump foreign policy aide George Papadopoulos, onetime national security adviser Michael Flynn, and deputy campaign manager Rick Gates and others.

Paul Manafort, Gates's former business partner, who also served as Trump campaign chairman for a stretch in 2016, is fighting conspiracy, tax and money laundering charges. Manafort faces trials in Virginia and Washington D.C. this year.

Manafort has pleaded not guilty. His attorneys point out that he has not been charged with alleged crimes that relate to election interference by the Russians.

On Wednesday, Manafort's longtime friends launched a legal defense fund for him after declaring he was struggling to pay his attorneys.

The special counsel team also has obtained indictments against 13 Russians for engaging in an information warfare campaign to help Trump and damage his political opponent, Hillary Clinton.

And they haven’t found one WITCH.

Am I the only guy around who was actually slapped by a WITCH? happened sometime in 1969 at some leftist rally. I was kidding around with a young woman lib and said something she thought was sexist (I doubt it. I didn’t know what sexist was back then).

She slapped me. Then we both laughed. She was actually very funny but a staunch feminist. As for the WITCH angle - she belonged to the Women’s International Terrorist Conspiracy from Hell - WITCH.

My secret payback was to burn her broomstick so she had to take a bus home to her coven. And that’s the truth!

PS: Her name was Billy S. (No, it didn’t stand for Bullshit). I actually liked her spunk compared to some of the female? things on the Left back then.

Just think how many poor people could have been helped by this $17 million. Instead it is used to pay career political hacks.

It’s actually a small operation by government standards.

So, the combined salaries of the entire U.S. Senate isn't much to you?

Nothing personal here, but NO ONE CARES. The Left doesn’t care what’s spent on investigating conservatives and the Right doesn’t care what’s spent on investigating liberals.

I remember with Obama’s super-expensive travels (like bringing 100 people to India, or something like that). Yea, we were all mad and screamed to the world how much he was wasting - did anyone who supported Obama care? Nope, not at all.

NPR = BS and Lies!

“The special counsel team also has obtained indictments against 13 Russians for engaging in an information warfare campaign to help Trump and damage his political opponent, Hillary Clinton.”

Well, I thought the first hearing indicated the 13 indicted, were not employees of the company charged? And of course were no where to be found. And one of the companies indicted did not exist at the time they charged.

That alone close my mind about anything else in this article.

Actually in the initial proceeding, one of the Companies charged was present and successfully rebutted the charges and asked for discover evidence. Which Mueller will elect to not give.

This is a total SCAM.
