Roseanne Barr wanted her hit show to get canceled with her racist Twitter meltdown, ex-husband Tom Arnold claimed in a new interview.
“It had to happen,” Arnold told The Hollywood Reporter about ABC abruptly pulling the plug Tuesday on the “Roseanne” reboot.
“And I am going to tell you the truth, she wanted it to happen, if you saw how her tweets escalated this weekend,” he continued. “If it hadn’t happened [Tuesday], this season would have been so awful for everyone every day because she would have felt like she was [being] taken advantage [of], just like when I left the show.”
Arnold, who wrote for “Roseanne” beginning in 1988, married Barr in 1990 and they divorced four years later. He was fired from the show that same year.
The 59-year-old said he could see Barr’s epic Twitter eruption coming from a mile away.
“When I read her social media in the very beginning, I saw how she was so into the conspiracy stuff with Donald Trump and saw how far gone she was,” he told Anderson Cooper on CNN. “How crazy that was I just knew that this would not end well.”

I actually agree with him on this. It could be that the sudden splash of new fame and notoriety became too much, even for a comedian who loves attention. The pressure to maintain this level of viewership would be intense and ongoing. She, is/was the show.
Maybe the ‘Ambien’, plus her newly inflated ego allowed her to get more careless on Twitter. There was no editor, filter or governing layer to stop her stream of consciousness from flowing like hot lava.
I feel sorry for all the other actors, who probably thought they had hit the jackpot with a hugely big hit of a show.
I would be very surprised if any of these actors would commit to working with her again on a professional level.
Most everything else Tom Arnold has to say on this topic is tainted by his bitterness.
Don't think the rest of the cast appreciated her leadership. She's a natural...none of the others are.

#2. In some ways, Roseanne Barr is the American Sinead O’Connor. Just as combustible, boisterous, charismatic, and potentially tragic.
There are rumors that the writers planned to move the show to the left over the course of the second season, like Roseanne’s character was going to come to realize she was wrong to support Trump. Maybe she blew the whole thing up to prevent this from happening.

Tom WHO? What a loser! This guy is a NOBODY. Married Roseanne to TRY to become somebody. He FAILED.

She was a “natural” in that she didn’t need the hours of makeup before her scenes. They used her as a non-speaking stand in for Helena Bonham Carter’s character Ari.

Wow...just wow. I watched Tom on Cnn yesterday. Watching Cooper hang on to evey word he said was something else!!!

I’ll bet tom arnold is most like the character he played in True Lies.
Yeah, I kind of doubt it. Let’s not forget the show was revived from a similar show in the 1990s that she also starred in. She would have snapped from the fame long ago had that been the case.
Maybe she wanted to be away from ABC. I read Fox was going to broadcast the show, but my son thinks ABC owns it.
