The New York Times has corrected a crowd size estimate it provided following President Trump's rally in Nashville, Tenn., on Tuesday night, after receiving sharp criticism from the president.
The paper on Wednesday stated that attendance was more than five times larger than estimates it had originally reported.
While no exact figure is available, the fire marshals office estimated that approximately 5,500 people attended the rally, not about 1,000 people, the correction stated.
The correction comes after the president railed against the Times on Twitter Wednesday morning, accusing the newspaper of intentionally underestimating the crowd size and of being comprised of "very dishonest" people who don't "get" him.
The Failing and Corrupt @nytimes estimated the crowd last night at '1000 people,' when in fact it was many times that number - and the arena was rockin. This is the way they demean and disparage. They are very dishonest people who dont get me, and never did! Trump tweeted to his 52.3 million followers.

And just how dang DUMB is it to lie about something that can be so easily disproven?? Yeah gad, forget about ethics, that ship has sailed. But don’t these idjits have even a couple of neurons left to fire up?
With high tech——who knows?
Sounds like the weather was not good either.
Wow, I hadn’t seen that Clinton pic. But they didn’t just add that one guy a bunch of times. They added a bunch of folks a bunch of times! ROTF!
For anyone else curious what the Clinton rally really looked like, pic at link below...

Who published that fake picture of the Hillary rally?
You’re welcome.
If the New York Times didn’t issue a retraction they’d have a much greater chance of being sued successfully. That’s what the research shows... I’ll bet money their first Amendment Lawyer has already set them down and explained that...
No credit due. they deliberately lie, knowing that people will believe the first story - - and the retraction will hardly get noticed- it's a ploy
When Trump was giving his speech last night the cameramen (in an unusual act) panned the crowd. Then I noticed what they were up to - they had found two or three spots with empty seats.
Since Trump had mentioned people had been turned away at the door - it’s easy to assume this ‘Trump’s not THAT popular’ stunt is a new coordinated meme. It would be easy to do - forty democrats get in line - come in together then leave when the speech starts. Cameramen are told to check the venue for empty seats and broadcast the empty seats.
Fits right in the New York Times lie.
In the past the cameramen would swing those stationary cameras around only when some ‘protester’ was being tossed out - but that was working FOR Trump... this one’s more subliminal.
Correction on page 87
Oops, does their faltering leftard rag have a page 87 any more?
BOYCOTT these leftist liars/cheats/frauds/conspireers
Im not sure the crowd side
But at 6:50 police security stopped myself and my middle son from entering the outer block of security at Deadrick street telling us decision had been made to shut down any more attendees
The cop even said she wanted to go in too but couldnt ....a black lady cop
There was a line of maybe 30 folks behind us
It holds 7-9000 depending arrangement
I think they block off the rear for something like this so maybe 6500 folks tops it out
We were in a long line to get in. Don’t take the bait
We need a FR badge to locate each other in a crowd!!
Amen lots of freepers at Trump events
The auditorium was filled and thousands cheered outside.
Bob Skoney, general manager of the auditorium said capacity for Tuesdays event was 7,500 to 8,000. Joseph Pleasant, a spokesman for the Nashville Fire Department, said the building has a capacity of around 9,600.

NYT doesn’t want to lose stats credibility given the resources it commits to the elections... which I guess is the primary reason it opted to issue the correction. Virtue is not a factor with these clowns.
NYT’S and CNN should invest their time being journalists and reporters rather than ‘political activists’ for the lying left...
