I try not to think about him much, but every year at tax time, I am reminded of some of his accomplishments as Governor of Massachusetts, when I have to do additional forms because of Romneycare, which reminds me of his refusal to act as Governor and instead legalized gay marriage here by taking a knee.
They have a prophecy about a Mormon president, and they think he’s it.
Truly— one who believes they are a god on Earth, and that the planet Kolob calls to them..... sheesh. Even beyond the level of “faith” that would require— Christianity has centuries of scholarly work on faith, with room in the Protestant faiths for skepticism and factual examination of what faith demands. In a Statist world of false gods, this commends Christianity to the lost, but requires self-discipline that most do not have.
Hence the appeal of islam and islamofascisms absolutism of death in jihad guaranteeing Heaven, for example. You make an excellent point, about the “controlling interests” and direction in Romney’s case. He is a fraud.
I despise him now and if I had the chance to say anything to him and Ryan it would be: Give me my vote back!!

Beck is bipolar, and unfortunately as an alcoholic was “rescued” by the mormons. For which he is apparently “owned” financially and otherwise. The Cruz support never made sense, except from a confused libertarian’s idea of a candidate, who is wonderful on constitutional issues but terrible with his public sense of leadership. Far better than Kay Bailey Hutchison of the prior years in TX, Cruz is needed fighting in the Senate, and as he has done— supported Trump. An odd duck besides.
