This is what the new rule is trying to eliminate:

Excerpted from article:

“”Over 470 Veterans Affairs employees spend 100 percent of their duty hours working for a labor union instead of serving veterans. This includes 74 full-time nurses,” the White House said in a fact sheet.”

470 employees in just one department spend 100% of their time promoting/organizing the government employee union (and against the interests of the taxpayers paying their salaries) instead of actually doing the job they were hired to do. This will limit them to 10 hours of union activity (presuming they are on a 40 hour workweek, and not a shorter one) per week.

This is vaguely reminiscent to me of the UAW Job Bank at General Motors (that was eliminated when Obama crushed the ‘old’ GM with a bailout and placed all the bad assets in that stock company and rolled the good assets to a ‘new’ GM with the TARP money in 2008-9.

Destroying the UAW Job Bank at GM was the only good thing Obama ever did - and that was probably incidental to Socializing GM’s losses - and an accident.

That’s going to cause some real angst.

I took that to mean limiting political activity. A lot of those anointed derps spend their entire time on politics/ lobbying. This will severely curtail the all day /everyday nonsense.

That is a big deal. Despite the general dislike of gov workers, there is a pretty close eye on hours and productivity of all workers except the union reps, most of the reps consider the union as their full time work. That 75% is directed at the union reps.

What the heck!

Investigating the possibility of regulating pornstars is the role of many federal workers. They have to watch porn to see what they need to regulate. It takes more than 25% of their time.

Investigating Trump supporters is far behind investigating those porn stars.

75% government work; 75% pay.

Not that uncommon.

In the public school district that I worked for, the president of the NEA local worked a half load and got half of each day out of the classroom to take care of union business.

I can imagine how this "perk" would be abused by the feds.

Trump did good.

The provision of office space and time on the “job” for union representation has been common for decades. Just how much time is now spent by feral “employees” on union business I don’t know but nearly 30 years ago my late father was spending at least 2 days a week as a manager dealing with union activities and complaints. Actual work on the project he managed was done by a shrinking minority people the rest were larking at taxpayer expense. As the Greatest Generation retired the problems of managing the “workforce” became ever worse.

I’ve often said that at least 20 to 25% of my time as a government engineer was wasted. I’ve taken ethics training yearly for 20 years. Add to that hearing conservation, records training, Opsec training, human trafficking training, ergonomics training, and a bunch of others I can’t recall. Some are easy, some have tests that waste more time some are videos I can leave on go get a cup of coffee as they drone on and on. More than once I’ve had to take some of them over again cause of computer hiccups. On top of my PE continuing education I have to complete 80 hours of continuous learning due to some stupid Federal rule. I’ve gotten ugh er inventive over time about what is training and my boss has no incentive to turn down anything I submit. I could write more about the stupidity of “work” related assignments but I’ll keep it short. I’m in the military so there is an endless parade of new colonels and captains (I’ve worked for the AF and Navy) cycling through every 2 years or less with their own agenda trying to get noticed for promotion. So we have new systems, programs, ideas etc we learn employ and sometimes drop as they leave. I could go on but suddenly want a beer.

Oh man gov workers can only watch porn 2 hours a day at work!

They should strike!

Imagine an employer making their employees work 6 hrs out of their 8 hr work day!

I think they’re talking about union reps, who are federal workers.

"All federal workers will be ordered to spend 75 percent of their time on government work"

They'd have to also eliminate "telework" to achieve this.

This means many AFGE union local presidents and other higher ranking union officials are current federal workers working full time for the union instead of doing their civil service jobs, in federal office space, receiving their full federal civil service pay and benefits for doing ZERO government work.

This rule requires they spend at least 6 of their 8 hour shift doing the jobs they ARE paid to do and allows no more than 2 hours for union work and that unions pay rent for the office space they are allowed to use FOR FREE!! If the Fed Gov unions want full time presidents for their locals they will have to encourage retired Fed Gov to fill these roles and pay them from union funds along with the rent for any onsite federal office space they are using!!

“All federal workers will be ordered to spend 75 percent of their time on government work”

That wasn’t flushed out very well. There are Union Reps, Stewards if you will in the Fed. Employee ranks just like in Union Shops. It is a small percentage for the most part, but apparently actually working for the job they are employeed is now being made a priority as opposed to stirring it up like Norma Rae. Imagine that!

What the heck!

You recall the old joke:

Q. "How many people work at the Social Security Administration?"

A. "About half of them."

So 75% is really a step in the right direction...

Union reps were allowed to “work” on Union business, as Government employees, on the clock. Some did nothing else.

When “working on a case”, many “union officials/reps” would spend all their time playing games instead of doing the work they were paid for - this merely limits the amount of time they can dedicate...many bases have seen the unions dry up and this will help the process...

I think Trump is setting up a trap for the media. When the MSM has their inevitable meltdown he is hoping that the average non-union working joe to react just like you did.
