The Republicans have taken a six-point lead over Democrats on the generic ballot in a new tracking poll from Reuters newswire service.
For the week ending May 20, Republicans are at 40.7 percent while Democrats have slipped down to 34.5 percent. The survey was of 1,139 respondents and is the first time in the 2018 cycle, dating back to the end of May last year, that Republicans have taken a lead ahead of Democrats in the Reuters tracking poll.

I don’t trust polls anymore. Not even the ones I might like.

Only 98 people showed up at my polling place for the primary last Tuesday.
Most people are paying zero attention at this point.
I know Dems who do not like the invasion of illegal aliens; and have worried for decades about the norks. And, many Dems are gun owners and have legitimate fears about personal safety.
Couple that with employment figures, job listings, and some other indicators of the brightness of the future.
And, join the above with the likely fears about government corruption. Just because the Dems are doing it, does not make it okay. (In the same sense that Watergate drove a lot of peeps to the Dems.)
it wouldn’t be surprising, given the recent revelations about moles, FBI and CIA criminality, the dems actively routing for Iran, North Korea, and MS 13, as well as the attempt to overrun the border. Then there is the dem/media alliance of Russia Russia Russia, and Porn Star Porn Star Porn Star.
So, I’m hoping that the poll is accurate, and that the dems get their asses handed to them in November, but I’m not going to hold my breath.
Those three certainly had an impact, but I think the top reason is that Trump is succeeding on both economic and national security fronts, and people can see how the effects of his policies are making their lives better.
I think she is ready to try again in 2020, but will the American people agree?
Trump is a classic Alpha male...first one since Reagan. People might not verbalize it, but they like it. It reassures them. That’s why, to the shock of the left, Trump even won college-educated women.
They are all meaningless at this point.
A lot of the white flight from the Dem party is due to the Dems themselves.
I know white Dems who do not like the invasion of illegal aliens; and who have worried for decades about the norks.
And, many white Dems are gun owners and have legitimate fears about personal safety, especially since Mister Obama's justice dept made Police work more difficult and dangerous and less rewording.
Couple that with employment figures, job listings, and some other indicators of the brightness of the future. White Dems have families and want success for them just like GOPers.
And, join the above with the likely fears about government corruption. Just because the Dems are doing it, does not make it okay with white (or any) Dem voters. (In the same sense that Watergate drove a lot of peeps to the Dems.) ...
A few points 1) this was probably a true reading of the generic poll because of all the bad news that has come out about the left 2) Reuters has “fixed” this result so it is now Republicans + 1 1/2 points indicating that it is very bad and there wasn’t much that could be done to spray it with perfume to cover the stink 3) the big difference between how much the RNC took in last month and how much the DNC didn’t take in shows a lack of enthusiasm among rank and file Democrats; finally 4) What is there to be excited and enthused about if you are a Democrat?
The dems need to turn their focus on policies that will help the economy....oh, wait. Economy is roaring. Then they need to zero in on more jobs....hmmmm, lots of jobs. Well, they should talk about increasing pay cheques....oh, that’s been taken care of. Then they need to talk about affordable health care.....except they are solely responsible for the UNaffordable disaster that is currently being dismantled. Let me think, let me think....oh! I know, they need to talk about a secure border, no, illegal immigration....sadly, they’re on the losing side of that argument.
They’re going to have to go back to the old reliable positions. Republicans are racist and Trump needs to be impeached. There’s the dem platform. Oh - they do have men using women’s washrooms - that’s gotta be good for a few of the perv votes.
Maybe people figured out the Dems like MS-13 more than Americans.
