Italy's President is expected to confirm a coalition between the League and the Five-Star Movement (M5S) today, cementing the nation as having one of the most Eurosceptic governments on the continent.
Sergio Mattarella will be asked to approve the formation of the coalition government today-the two parties have been in talks since March's election.........
Luigi Di Maio, the leader of the Five Star Movement, sent a stern message to the EU yesterday by insisting that he will attempt to renegotiate EU rules as part of an effort to put Italians first.....

The outsider parties most opposed to the European Union will propose their new government in Italy in the coming hours (Monday May 21st). It will be up to the president to approve the names submitted.
Five Star Movement will reportedly take Labor and Economic Development while the League leader Matteo Salvini will be Interior Minister.
The League will roll up its sleeves to crack down on migrants invading Italy.

This development has the potential to throw real sand into the gears of the EU authoritarian project. A good thing for Europe and the world as a whole.

Eurosceptic? That’s a new one.

Is this more eurosceptic than Britain at the moment?
Or is Italy now in the EU, so this is applied only to them at the moment?

Neither a person from the League or Five Star.
The story is that a law professor will be appointed as Prime Minister, though the parties are not confirming this.
Giuseppe Conte, who is a Florence University law professor, is said to be the new PM but not confirmed.

The EU will begin to engage in economic warfare on this new government, particularly on italian bonds.

I think “Euroseptic” would be redundant.

All the EU has to do is allow an Italian bank or two to go bust, and that will be the end of the Eurosceptic government. If Italy really means it that is, and this isn’t all for show.

I’m surprised it’s taken this long. I can’t see Italians putting up with being invaded by muslims.

it is more eurosceptic than the British ruling party. The Tories are about 45:55 split between pro and anti Europe and even the "anti" have a lot of shades of gray.
The M5S movement besides being heavily socialist is also stirdently anti-Eurozone and somewhat anti-EU while the NL is stridently anti-eurozone and anti-EU

The most significant potential action would be to pull Italy out of the Eurozone. The Euro benefits Germany and France and is a millstone around the necks of southern European economies.
The Eurocrats would fight that tooth and nail, and my opinion is that if they do, the discussions will quickly move onto the broader impact of the EU on Italy.
