Disgusting drivel. According to this person if all we need is love then יַהְוֶה isn't a requirement. An atheist could have said the something nearly identical.
What happened to the Arch-bibble of Canterberries?
Whut?
The “black preacher” is Michael Curry, the Presiding Bishop of the ECUSA (Episcopal Church of the United States of America). When he was elected, one of his first tasks was to change Julia Ward Howe’s lines of the Battle Hymn of the Republic to:
As He died to make FOLKS holy, let us die to make FOLKS free! While God is marching on.
Guess he’ll get rid of the “G0d thing” next.
The church that nurtured me through some of the worst days of my 73+ years on earth has become a clown circus. Absalom Jones must be rolling in his grave.
In addition, the sermon featured a quote from a Jesuit. Odd especially in an English church.
>>While the acceptance of people of color into the royal fold is a welcome and long-overdue change<<
What, jay-zee wasn’t available to officiate and perform Thug Life or some such thing for the wedding song?
This “new MIL is Black thing” is getting blown WAY out of proportion.
Most British people will go through their life and never meet a single Black person (2% of the population, although watching Dr. Who you would think it was 40%).
The over/under in years on this marriage is about 4.
I had the very same thoughts. This was a slightly paler version of what a Jeremiah Wright may have said. This “bishop” should have been allowed a maximum of 1 minute to make his point and not as if this were some AME gathering. Disgraceful. The “gospel choir” sang a secular song and what an odd eclectic group at that.
He mentioned Jesus more frequently than I have heard from Episcopal Clergy for years. The Episcopal and The Anglian Church has practically banned God and Jesus from their churches. I guess that the fact that the Presiding Bishop is Black means that he can get away with it. Both of these church are the walking dead.
My American Lib friends LOVED the Bishop. My in-law Brit relatives havent said a word. The Ugly American comes to mind. It is classless to go into someone elses home ( and The Chapel is part of Windsor Castle, which is a home of the Queen) and make them feel uncomfortable or insulted. Period. But it seeems in keeping with the way Harry and Meghan have both conducted their lives. Classless.
Why is that such a "welcome change." Why?
Why is having ones bloodline mixed away with an alien
race of people so fantastic and desirable?
Quick question - was Harry’s father at the wedding?
[The ceremony itself featured an African-American bishop who cited the American civil rights movement and quoted Martin Luther King Jr. as often as he did Jesus. The couple opted for a secular song, Stand by Me, performed by a predominantly black gospel choirjaws literally dropped]
The majority of the world, including a significant percentage of the Christian world, are UNABLE to discern the differences between the Real Gospel and the Social Gospel. These days, I would say it’s the majority of Christians. Or so it seems.
That’s why many Christian Americans voted for Obama having been schooled by BLT Jeremiah Wright, Jr.
The hour is late; very late.
This "marriage" aint gonna last long.
GMAB!
I only saw a bit of the show at around 6 CDT, when the "Beautiful People" were all walking down the road to the castle or where ever they were headed. Between snippets of Shep describing the colors and the other info babe talking about tradition, I was struck with the number of POC that were there.
I thought that maybe the camera guy was just dwelling on the blacks in attendance but after a bit it was obvious that that was not the case.
As the event dragged on it seemed like an "inclusion" point was trying to be made. I really half expected to see Don Cornelius greeting the guests as they strolled down the road and into the castle or whatever it was.
Isn’t it interesting that no matter what the occasion it always comes back to race, victims and grievances real and imagined. No day is complete without it, and Kanye is right, some blacks will never get past this because they don’t want to.
“Love” is used many ways these days. But Christian love, as Jesus exemplified, and commanded of his followers, is a selfless love, one in which one would give his life for another. It is an unconditional love that requires one to care for another without any conditions. To love as Jesus commands does not mean you have to like someone, but nevertheless be there for that person just because he/she is. It is impossible for humans but is something, as Christians, we to seek.
Much of the ceremony was put together for the sole purpose of reminding everyone Megan is black. Black gospel choir didn’t make sense because Megan was supposedly Catholic. They spotlighted a black cellist and kept zooming in on the black kid in the choir. A bunch of other left wing crap as well. Libs just can’t themselves, they’re mental.
I am sure there were people attending my wedding who thought it was too Catholic for my Congregationist upbringing.
Who cares? I didnt.
Its their wedding. As long as they are happy, who cares?
People who criticize this stuff always strike me as arrogant and shallow.
I didnt know a person of color was previously turned away. The author speaks as though we all have a duty to marry someone from another race. Silly me, Ive always thought you should marry someone you love.
The traditional Anglican vows were altered slightly to allow the outspoken feminist Markle to opt out of the traditional promise to obey her husband.
The vow, as described online, are the same as the vows in Common Worship, the fairly new liturgical texts of the Church of England; I'm sure that she's not the first person to have used them.
The couple opted for a secular song, Stand by Me, performed by a predominantly black gospel choirjaws literally droppedin addition to old-school Christian hymns sung by the congregation.
No matter what style was used, I'd prefer secular songs to be used at the reception.
