President Donald Trump tried to keep his planned talks with North Koreas leader on track with reassuring words then appeared to threaten total decimation if Kim Jong Un fails to reach a deal with the U.S. on nuclear arms.
Trump, responding to North Koreas sudden threat on Tuesday to pull out of scheduled June talks, promised that Kim would remain in power and his country would get very rich if he abandons his nuclear weapons program. But the president appeared to issue his own warning if the two leaders fail to reach a deal.
Trumps comments came after national security adviser John Bolton referred recently to the Libyan model for a North Korean pact. Libyas Muammar Gaddafi agreed to shut down his nations fledgling nuclear program in 2003 so that sanctions against his country would be lifted. He was killed in 2011 by rebel forces backed by the U.S. and its allies.
North Korea called Boltons reference insulting and sinister. Pyongyang has in the past pointed to Gaddafis experience as a reason to maintain its nuclear weapons program....

I noticed they don’t quote him.
They’re probably just making it up.
Here’s some nice carrots and over here we have a stick that we will use to knock your head off. Your choice.
Here’s the official Whitehouse transcript from the website.
What? Its only a tenth. The tenth that Kim happens to be in.
The UGM-133A Trident II, or Trident D5 is a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), built by Lockheed Martin Space Systems in Sunnyvale, California, and deployed with the American and British navies. It was first deployed in March 1990,[4] and remains in service. The Trident II Strategic Weapons System is an improved SLBM with greater accuracy, payload, and range than the earlier Trident C-4. It is a key element of the U.S. strategic nuclear triad and strengthens U.S. strategic deterrence. The Trident II is considered to be a durable sea-based system capable of engaging many targets. It enhances the U.S. position in strategic arms negotiation with performance and payload flexibility that can accommodate active treaty initiatives (see New START). The Trident II’s increased payload allows nuclear deterrence to be accomplished with fewer submarines,[10] and its high accuracy approaching that of land-based missiles enables it to be used as a first strike weapon.

Everyone misuses that word for some reason.
Re: Trump promised that Kim would remain in power
Another clear signal to every murderous dictator on planet Earth that the best way to preserve their money and their power is to develop or acquire nuclear weapons.
Art of the deal!
I’ve lately noticed a of people misusing “decimation” for total destruction. The word is annihilation. Decimation is reducing by 10 percent or more broadly a significant amount.
Yup, it has been misused so much that it actually no longer means to reduce by a tenth.
The definition has shifted...and that’s OK, words take on new meanings.
Maybe not everyone, but a good nine out of ten.
“...then APPEARED to threaten total decimation...”
It “appears” to this author so he’ll have a story to write...
Without weasel words the press would be out of business.
If not for the promise to stay in power Kim would get fine with EVERY Nork dying if he had the chance to cling to power one more day.
