Andrew McCarthy appeared on Fox News this morning to discuss the bombshell admissions within a New York Times report, leaked by FBI and DOJ officials, attempting to justify their illegal spying and surveillance operation against the campaign of Donald Trump in 2015 and 2016.

Kindly-meant memo to all: coming IG report does not deal with the FBI’s handling of Trump-Russia probe. Is focused solely on FBI Clinton email. Just so folks know IG report not likely behind DOJ spying admissions. And just so folks manage expectations.

Long story short:

The MSM/Dem narrative is going to be: The intel community did Trump a favor by keeping their espionage into his campaign a secret so the American public wouldn’t know he was under investigation prior to the election.

The answer to which is:
The FBI was not conducting a criminal investigation. They couldn’t, there was no crime. So they could not say that he was under investigation.
What the FBI was conducting was (is?) a counter-intelligence operation. Think what would have been the reaction of the public if this was known. But by its very nature, a counter-intel op is secret, so they would never have revealed it.

https://www.nationalreview.com/2017/05/james-comey-firing-rod-rosenstein-memo-gives-bipartisan-rationale/

First paragraph ...”Jim Comey has been a good friend to me over the years. I have disagreed strenuously with a number of decisions he made in connection with the Hillary Clinton investigation — with his rationales and with the fact that he was presuming to exercise authority that was not his to exercise. The independence of law enforcement is critical, but at times he seemed to redefine “independent” as beholden to only those institutional guidelines he subjectively judged worthy of following. Still, I personally know him to be a good man. I know that he loves the country and the FBI, and that every decision he made — regardless of whether it was right or wrong — was made in what he sincerely believed was the best interests of both.”

Sorry, but McCarthy is no better than Comey, when it comes to who did what and when and why... One does not do what Comey did out of love of country...

Comey has probably received immunity. It wouldn’t be hard to believe Obama also was.

She’s right. It’s not the pending IG report that is driving all these people to start outing themselves to the media. More likely, they know their names are all over the redacted DOJ documents that are now being shared in unredacted form in various quarters.

Andrew McCarthy easily refutes that argument. The counter intelligence effort was required by law to be conducted in secret. People would have broken the law if they had talked about it publicly. They ginned up the CI effort specifically to conduct it in secret.

If the MSM and Dems use that narrative, they will be easily and quickly demolished.

They conducted it in secret but then they leaked it all over the media in early 2017, so that narrative gets debunked from two different angles. Remember that bug-eyed dingbat Evelyn Farkas and the startling admissions she made in that MSNBC interview?

I don’t recall the Evelyn Farkas MSNBC interview. What did she spill in that?

Step one: we want to spy on the Trump campaign to benefit Hillary.
Step two: we want to use all of the U.S. agency capabilities and some foreign means as necessary to get around U.S. law and eyes.
Step three: create the circumstances so we can engage the system. Set up key staffers. Use foreigners that we already have a strong association with.
Step four: get a title 1 FISA so we can spy on the entire Trump campaign by getting a warrant for one person on the team.
Step five: Use all available spying techniques, including humit positioned in the campaign.
Step six: Pass all the info to the Hillary campaign to help them plan spending and other strategies. Look for any dirt that can be played over and over.
Step seven: Use fake dirt to smear Trump prior to the election.
Crap, he still won!
Step eight: Turn this operation into an attack on Trump to remove him from office.

” Still, I personally know him [Comey] to be a good man”

He was caught in the gears of a corrupt machine. Looks like he still is. With courage and integrity he could bust those gears. This story is not yet fully told.

Lots of FreeRepublic threads on the story at the time, including this one:

This woman must have an IQ around 70.
