Another incident involving a failed window, but without the catastrophic failure of another part.

Does’t he get a ticket for not wearing his seat belt?

Unlike the windows next to your seat on some planes the windows in the cockpit can be opened. Maybe it was shut right.
I was told that planes would be a lot efficient if they didnt have widows by an aviation engineer type.

According to the article he was wearing a seatbelt which is required at all times for the pilots.
My guess is the report about him being sucked out is an exaggeration.

Im skeptical. 32,000 feet, 575 mph airspeed, -70F and front
windscreen breaks? I would think instant death for cockpit crew.

I thought commercial pilots actually wore a harness rather than a seat belt

‘The co-pilot, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pulled back in.’
Lucky he was wearing it.

Happened to British Airways Flight 5390 in 1990, also. In that case, the pilots feet hooked the control wheel and almost crashed the plane. He also survived.

the windows in the cockpit can be opened. Maybe it was shut right.... Probably not closed all the way at the gate, after the pilots paid the gas bill.

Sucked halfway out???
Fortunately Otto Pilot had a better experience.

"...a lot efficient if they didnt have windows..."
Adding windows simply has to compromise the structural integrity of the aluminum shell of the aircraft, plus make it heavier.
They need to revamp the use of ridiculous windows in the passenger cabin.
They can differentiate between the seats by calling them sleep seats or aisle seats.
Eventually the interior walls will be lined with monitors and will have HD projections of what is outside via cameras pointed to exterior of jetliner.
