After Tuesday's West Virginia primary, red-state Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin is now trailing Republican Attorney General Patrick Morrisey by two points in his re-election race, according to a new poll conducted by WPA intelligence.
Why it matters: That's within the margin of error, but the poll is a sign that the GOP has improved its chances of defeating Manchin since Don Blankenship lost the primary this week. Manchin is in an especially vulnerable position given that President Trump won West Virginia by 42 points 2016.
Meanwhile, several Republican leaders and outside groups are looking to West Virginia as a sign of what to expect in places where red-state Democrats face similar struggles.

I'm very glad he never did. The man is a snake ... he talks a good game, but in reality he's another Chuck Schumer.
Machin is a joke. He says he is a yes vote for the tax cut before he votes against it.
He did. I don't trust him ... he's too much in bed with Big Labor.
He can change whats behind hos nsme, but co-authoring the most rabid anti-2A legislation seriously proposed is why he is a party darling, for both parties. I was shocked to see he and trump cozoed up until the due process slip.
I would call him an OPPORTUNIST!
I would think this race will not be decided until well into Wednesday, Nov. 7. People in WV have a great feeling for their incumbents.
It depends on who shows up on election day. If it’s motivated Democrats, then Manchin wins.
Way to early to celebrate. Get out there and work for manchin’s defeat.

There is no such thing as a moderate Democrat. They are all snakes. This is great news as the trend is our friend.

WV “governor” Jim Justice is the embodiment in fact of what the left says about Trump - a corrupt, incompetent, cheating sack of manure. The state had the chance to elect a reasonably competent conservative in Bill Cole but picked this d-bag instead, go figure.
