A Republican representative on Wednesday filed a petition to force a House vote on immigration, going around leadership and the committee process.
GOP Rep. Carlos Curbelo (Fla.) filed the motion, known as a discharge petition.
He was joined by Republican Reps. Jeff Denham (Calif.), Will Hurd (Texas), Mario Díaz Balart (Fla.) and David Valadao (Calif.) as initial sponsors.
If a majority of the House votes for the discharge petition, the chamber will then vote on an immigration proposal by Denham.
Republicans who support immigration reform have grown increasingly frustrated at leadership over inaction on the issue.
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has stuck to a promise he made to immigration hardliners not to call a vote on the issue unless half the Republican Conference supports the measure.
In an attempt to circumvent Ryan's promise, Denham proposed in March what's known as a Queen of the Hill rule. It would allow the House to pick between four different immigration proposals.
The four proposals are all meant as a legislative replacement for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which President Trump rescinded in September.

Cheap Labor Express stooges who should be Cantorized in the next primary!
Remove the Bush League Republicans from office or they WILL give away our country.
EVERY House member is up for election this year.
EVERY one of them MUST be made to answer the question:
Are they are on the side of the citizens and the rule of law or on the side of fraudulently documented foreigners and their employers!?
The Four Amigos?
Viva Mexico!!
Assimilation? NAH.
Will Hurd is a democrat disguised as a republican.
The Bush League Republicans have more support in the House than the citizens do.
We have to change that.
After we Cantorized the weasel Eric Cantor and blocked the vote on the final amnesty for the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA) that Rubio and his Gang of Amnesty passed in 2014, I really thought more district would follow suit and rid themselves of their weasels.
It didn’t happen.
The Cheap Labor Express still controls most of the Senate and House GOP.
“Cheap Labor Express” - AKA: The Useless Chamber of Communist Commerce
Tom Donohue is one of the chief conductors.
It would be stupid to vote on it now until after the Nov election.
I don’t doubt it at all.
Ryan, Cantor, McCarthy and the rest were going to pass the Rubio betrayal the day after the primary.
We put a kink in that plan by booting out the majority leader.
Of course all the Democrats are in the open/no borders camp with the 5 RINOs who filed it. But the question is how many in the GOP will also join.
The only difference between those 5 RINOs (along with GOP RINOs who join them) and the "No Borders" Allah Akbar Congressman (Keith Ellison) will be one of honesty.
We only have maybe 50 on the side of the citizens and the rule of law.
All of these Amnesty proponents must be eliminated in, preferably, the primary.
If not, then any election will do.
Art-4,Sec-4 : "The U.S. shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion."
The linked article does not explain what is in the bill the open borders crowd wants to force a vote on. It mentions DACA but what else is in it?
Denham must think hes Queen of the Hill.
that is called a RINO, yo......
What is so ridiculous about illegal immigration is that it eventually completely ruins the country they are illegally entering. So the natives lose as well as the immigrants themselves. Its madness.
The courts illegally extended DACA.
