No big surprises here. This follows a well-known strategic path of North Korean brinksmanship even to the precipice point of hot shooting and in most cases, until now the USG has been the one to blink--for fear of that shooting... so it is no surprise they are resorting to it again since it usually works for them.

Yeah, and we usually sweeten the pot with a few billion dollars. Hopefully, this Administration puts a halt to that crap. It’s always a shakedown...no more.

Who is surprised to discover that Fat Boy is also a master at negotiation?

For one, the dummies who jumped the gun on the Pulitzer peace prize.

It aint over till its over.

President Trump will ultimately win but I expect many dodges, reversals and on and off threats before it is over.

The economic sanctions are hurting. No way they should be lifted until after the complete dismantling of nuclear weapons, materiel, technology, and knowledge base.

I suppose if Rocketman needs help with his trash talk, he can get his buddy Dennis Rodman to provide some new one-liners.

Does anyone believe Trump will hesitate to walk away?

Follow the link and translate to English. Not a good translation available but this appears to be routine behavior from NK and it specifies no intent on the part of N K to imperil talks.

From the article

“Experts say it is not an intention to break the talks but rather a “last minute fight” that tries to keep internal ties and lose the initiative in negotiations”

IOW, the Koreans are trying to reposition themselves to give the appearance of dealing from a position of more strength.

Trump actually warned about this and weeks ago said if the NK engaged in any of their past insincere behavior he was willing to walk away from the table and ratchet up the sanctions.

These are all negotiable. What’s needed is a schedule of this for that. We loosen sanctions, they return some political prisoners, We bring in some South Korean companies to rebuild infrastructure, they prove they have significantly reduced arms, etc.

What we do not do is offer them cash, materials that can be used to make nuclear weapons or allow a worsening of treatment for political dissidents. Everything else, we use to negotiate a peaceful return to the community of nations. They have a very long way to go.

Rockey Boy thinks Trump is so desperate for a Nobel Prize he’ll blink and cave in.

Trump will cancel the summit and walk away if the North Koreans on their promise to denucleaerize the peninsula.

This President means business and until the North Koreans fully internalize it, the campaign of maximum pressure will be maintained.

Trump isn’t going to do for North Korea what Obama did for Iran. Wait and watch. North Korea is not in any shape to dictate to the US what to do.

Temper tantrum in aisle five has always been the lynch pin of North Korean foreign policy.

Kim’s playbook was based on the North Vietnam-South Vietnam scenario - “peace talks” lead to U.S. agreement to remove U.S. forces from South Korea; leading to international money/investment leaving South Korea; leading to economic collapse of South Korea and when the last U.S. troop ship and helicopter departs South Korea the North invades, needing them only conventional arms. I am not “selling” that. That is what Kim is/was thinking.

I guess he ignored that folks like Bolton and Pompeo know that playbook too and aren’t buying it.

Kim is thinking he can get things he wants while giving up nothing and continue the nuclear blackmail as his “or else” condition.

I am hoping and praying that Trump says “go ahead”, play your “or else”, you’ll lose everything.

Fixed! :)

Enter, President Donald Trump.

I am not totally convinced that Kim Jong In is really in charge in North Korea. There are a lot of high ranking Military Officers with a lot at stake in maintaining the status quo. I have felt for a long time that the “Fat Boy” might just be a puppet on their string. Stay tuned.

Things aren’t going to “return to zero”. Somebody needs to introduce KJU to the Kelvin measuring system. His ass is going subzero if “things don’t work out”.
