US surgeons could save this little girl's leg... so why did the NHS only offer amputation?
UK Daily Mail ^ | 05/05/2018 | Anthea Gerrie and Sophie Goodchild

A schoolgirl with one leg shorter than the other has been told by the NHS her only option is amputation.

However, a leading US surgeon claims UK doctors have the training – but not the confidence – to save her limb by lengthening it, and that the NHS lacks the highly specialist rehabilitation services she needs after surgery.

Dr Dror Paley has told the parents of seven-year-old Kyra Warrell, who was born with a rare condition affecting her thigh bone, that her treatment is straightforward.

This is why the Brits have such lousy teeth, among other problems.

That costs money, and the commies are running out of other people’s money. The system is overburdened with Muslims who hate the West and there’s a big stupid royal wedding coming up.

Now would be a good time for them to arrange everything needed for travel to the US for such surgery.

When I was working in the NHS, I asked why the dentist didn’t clean my teeth when I went for a check-up. One of my co-worked said ‘well, it’s only cosmetic, isn’t it’. Not a question, a statement.

Yet it is almost impossible to find a Brit who will admit that the NHS may not be the greatest idea in the history of medicine. Even Ukip avoids suggesting that it should be privatized.

Someone should contact President Trump. It would be great to see a Trump airplane go and pick the little girl up.

No doubt that if she were part of the rich privileged class in England, the operation would be done.

In the fragmented, chaotic, inefficient US system she could go to any surgeon or hospital.

Under a single payer system the payer is very efficient, orderly and unified. One option, take it or leave it, Citizen.

(Oh and if you want to leave it by moving your dying baby to an Italian hospital that provides some hope of life, we'll line up a wall of guards to keep that from happening...)

This would be a great opportunity to highlight the utter failure of socialized medicine. And that is perhaps something a US president might want to do.

They are actually doing preliminary research for implementing shariah. Sword? Or scalpel?

Large, centrally-planned systems can produce good results on very specific, repeatable functions not subject to change variation.

Unfortunately, that is not how human health is. In fact, its usually quite the opposite.

Thirty years ago I was in Rome and the daughter of a friend, who was a dwarf, had both her legs lengthened. Painful but it was done and no doctor ever suggested an amputation. Get that girl out of England!

I don’t get it. The politics are covered but this is literally butchery.

Take her leg? How does that improve anything? I have unequal length limbs too. Removing a limb? Wtf? How is this even on the table? How is it better than just leaving well enough alone?
