Maintenance issues will kill it.

Intel guys at Ft Irwin took us through a short seminar an SovBlock weapons they had on hand. They had some armor that was used in OpFor for a short while.

Had to retire them to a petting zoo. No way to get the parts to keep them running, so the fake mockup shapes took the field.

Dunno how a helo is to keep flying vs. a track to keep rolling, but the consequences of a parts failure are easy to see between the two.

Ask the guy upthread who flew them, but the Russian helos are reputed to be simple and relatively easy to maintain, relatively low maintenance and very rugged beasts. Lots of parts on the world market for Hinds and Hips, too. The Hip is literally the most numerous commercial helicopter in the world and the Hind is based on the Hip.

Basically, it’s the Ford Mustang of rotorcraft.

A few of our allies such as Czech Republic, Poland, and the Ukraine use the Hind and Hip.

And IIRC at one point we were acting as the middle man for Afghanistan and Iraq for their purchases of those platforms.
