Putting down other people is not humor. Obviously it makes some people “laugh.” It’s inflicting harm on someone, and the noise made by their mouths is the noise of enjoying the suffering of others, often confused with laughter.

The “Uncle Tom” reference was just stupid. One can “roast” another but it has to be intelligent, witty, and not PERSONALLY offensive. Great comedians know when not to cross the line. One who perfected the roast was the master Don Rickles.
